New rumor claims 12-inch Retina MacBook Air will come in space gray and gold

Gold is best

If you’ve just been dying to get your hands on a gold MacBook Air, a new rumor floating around the web is sure to make your day. According to a tech website aptly named A Tech Website, the long-rumored line of 12-inch MacBook Airs that are expected to be released next year will be available not only in the usual silver, but also in iPhone-style “space gray” and gold.

This seemingly insane claim allegedly comes from “someone familiar with Apple’s plans.” More reliable sources have previously claimed that we’ll see a 12-inch MacBook Air sporting a Retina display sometime in 2015, possibly with a fanless design thanks to a more power-efficient processor.

I’ve never understood why they couldn’t make a black anodized aluminum MacBook considering how much we all loved the black plastic MacBook back in the day.

      Would love that!

Without a doubt this would be great. Blend right in with the black bezels on the screen.

There were rumors a couple of years ago that they had tested a black anodized model extensively and it just didn’t hold up well over time.

They tried a dark slate color with the iPhone 5 and then ended up with a lighter gray for the 5S for probably the same reasons.

Anodized aluminum (at least 7075-T6) even with type 3 hardcoat still shows scratches easy. aluminum just isnt the best material for abrasion resistance, especially when anodized.

Starting to wonder more and more if the 12″ Air will actually end also being the iPad Pro too. Wonder if Apple will put their own processors in the MacBook Air or wait for Intel’s production of Broadwell chips.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Also I think one of the main reasons for Apple shifting iOS to 64bit is paving the way for this machine.

Just like Touch ID was in effect a step toward Apple Pay, iOS 64bit will allow greater ram capacity that will more than likely be present in the iPad Pro.

A space grey MacBook Air would look awesome, but I don’t know about a gold one. I think it would look tacky.

OMG! I was Space Grey :D

You know, we did think that it was highly improbable that Apple would launch a 4.7 AND 5.5 in. Screen not so very long ago.

I’m still waiting for Scott Forestall to come back and tell me iOS 7 was a joke…

It doesn’t make sense that Apple will offer a 12 inch Air along with the 11″ and 13″. Impossible. Either it is going to be 12 and 14 or the 12 will replace the 11 and 13 and that will be it.

    when already?

If those rumors are true then it’s a surprise that they haven’t released gold ipads yet.

Please not gold.. Just please Apple I’m begging you don’t do this..
