Google just announced its much anticipated Google Calendar app for iPhone is now available on the App Store. The app is essentially an iPhone version of the standalone Calendar mobile app previously only available for Android devices. Google first unveiled the latest version of its Calendar app alongside the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop late last year.
The Google Calendar app for iPhone works with your Exchange and iCloud calendars and also integrates with Gmail to automatically turn events from emails into Calendar entries. Here’s a rundown on features from Google:
● A new Schedule View – See your schedule at a glance with photos and maps of the places you’re going.
● Events from Gmail – Flight, hotel, concert, restaurant reservations and more are added to your calendar automatically.
● Assists to fill in your calendar – You can quickly create events with smart suggestions for event titles, places and people.
● Different ways to view your calendar – Speedily switch between viewing a single day to getting an overview of multiple days at once.
It will also work for Apps customers: Google Apps Mobile Management has you covered. Apps Mobile Management allows admins to set up mobile security policies, like requiring passwords and remotely wiping data when necessary. And it’s included with Google Apps and Google Drive for Work, so you can keep your work data safe
The app is available on the App Store now for free.

Would really like to see iCloud Calendar support in that app.
I currently use Fantastical and its way better than apples solution, but I’m still not fully satisfied.
It has iCloud Calendar support. Try Calendars 5 – it has all the features of Fantastical, but with a better UI, especially for month view.

I ditched the iOS calendar app for Fantastical a long time ago, if Google Calendar added a widget to their app offerings I would ditch Fantastical completely!
If Fantastical 3 isn’t a universal app and becomes a paid upgrade like Fantastical 2 was, then I won’t be upgrading and will use this Google Calendar app.
Is it just me or does the Gmail app look out of place when compared to most of their other apps on iOS?
It seems Gmail will be one of the last Google apps updated with Material Design despite being the first to be upgraded to support iPhone 6/6+ (and just recently getting an update with support for actionable notifications).
I fail to see any reason why people are foaming at the mouth about this app. I left a generous two star review. No app badge, no widget, no landscape view, no 7 day week view, the month view is worthless. No indiciators in the month view and the month view goes away when you swipe. Hell, the iOS Calendar app does a ton more than this one and people are leaving 5 star reviews saying Google has raised the bar. I don’t get it.
