Apple clarifies Space Black Apple Watch won’t hit stores until all online orders fulfilled

This morning, Apple announced that the Apple Watch will arrive in new countries on June 26th and in Apple Retail stores across the globe in two weeks. The company also said that all orders placed through May will ship to customers within two weeks, with the exception of the 42mm Space Black stainless steel model.

In an email to those who ordered at least that Space Black version, Apple has clarified that this model will not be in retail stores until all online orders have been fulfilled:

Thank you for ordering an Apple Watch. We’re working hard to ship orders as quickly as possible and in the order they were placed.

As you may have heard, some models of Apple Watch will soon be available for purchase in Apple Retail Stores. We’d like you to know that the model you ordered will not be available for purchase in Apple Retail Stores until all current online orders have shipped.

When your order ships, we’ll send you an email with a specific delivery date and tracking information. For the most up-to-date information about your order, please visit online Order Status.

In other words, don’t cancel your Space Black Apple Watch order with the impression that one can be picked up at an Apple Store two weeks from now.

reassuring to know about the space black model – but sucks that most ordered on april 10th still haven’t even shipped. i ordered at 8.30 in the uk (30 mins in) and my order status is still processing, estimating a june delivery (still). as far as i know people who ordered at around 15 minutes in to the pre-order still haven’t received their’s. maybe it will never come

It seems to be a really peculiar system – I talked to a lot of people on Twitter on release day and some people had ordered like an hour or so afterwards, and got them before a guy who ordered at 8:03.

  2. I’m glad that mine came a couple of day’s ago.

My Space Black Stainless Steel 42mm just arrived 1-Jun-2015, two days ago. Loving it so far.

Well, that puts Apple a class above Nomad, whose Apple Watch stands are on Best Buy’s shelves more than a week before pre-ordered stands will arrive. Jerks.

Got my space black stainless steel 38mm last week and returned it to Apple today. Very unimpressed. Just not worth the price-tag and with the smeary screen, doesn’t even look cool. My biggest issues were the calorie counter that is WAY off, the battery life is very poor and you still need to take your phone on workouts. I’ll wait for version 2.0…

Hey! I found the Samsung CEO!

Seriously, how do you know if the calorie counter is off?

The battery life is poor? Most people, it lasts for 1.5 days to 2 days…

And you DO NOT need to take your phone on workouts.

Are you bothered with Apple’s success?

      • The guy has given an opinion about his Apple watch and because you can’t handle it you resort to claiming he is Samsung CEO.

If you can’t handle people not liking what you like then you seriously need to grow up. Dear me.

      • rnc - 9 years ago

        I can’t handle people lying.

You can use the Exercise and Activity apps, 100% free of the iPhone… why is he lying?

      • How is he lying? There are people who love the Apple Watch and have fantastic experiences with it – are they lying? There are also some people who don’t like it and don’t have the experiences others have had. What about the people who tested the Apple Watch and said one of the watches they tested stopped working after a water test. Where they lying? What about the people who claim the Apple Watch is sluggish, and takes an age to update – are they lying?

Perhaps Chris got a Watch which isn’t working properly – it’s entirely possible. I don’t know if he is lying or not – and neither do you. Other than that there is no need to get aggressive over what somebody says because you don’t like it. Chris not liking the watch makes absolutely no difference to you so why get aggressive over it :)

What exactly am I lying about??
The watch does not have a gps, and Apple states that you must take your iPhone with for accuracy. Don’t know why you get your panties in a bunch because someone who has actually used the watch for a week has some problems with it. You may love it and that’s fine, But I found it way too buggy for an $1100 price tag! Version 2 will probably be fantastic.

Btw… Remember to turn you watch off before going into the movies or everyone will hate you. Every time you move it lights up the theater… Apple needs a sleep or movie mode, it’s really irritating.

LOL these are things you didn’t know beforehand? Nearly everybody reports that the battery life well exceeds the promise. Nearly everyone remarks how great the screen is. What tells me that you are fake or a fool is that you could have easily sold that watch for twice what you paid. Another Caspar. LOL

wow, you people really are really sad…just can’t take it when someone criticizes your precious Apple…

      1. I use a polar heart rate monitor. The Calories are WAY off and a quick search of Apple forums will show you that I am not the only one complaining. For example it measures 250 calories for a 3 mile run.

      2. Battery life claims 18 hours, lucky if I get 12 when using it with fitness app. Again, don’t just go by me, check the Apple forums… I also tried to resolve this with Apple and was told it completely normal.

      3. Apple clearly says that the fitness apps are not accurate without taking your phone with you. There is no GPS in the watch and the phone IS required for any sort of accuracy.

      4. Screen quality is great, until you’ve used it for 10 minutes and have fingerprints smears all over it.

I love all my Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, Macbook Air and Mac Pro… I thought I would love the Apple Watch too but I don’t sorry. This is a fail in my books.

I really want a 42mm Space Black Stainless Steel Case with Space Black Stainless Steel Link Bracelet – but not for $1,099.00.

Wake me up when this baby is 500 dollars, maybe even 600, and I’ll buy it.

Mine was shipped and suppsed to be delivered on June 1st. Ups “lost” it though, so I have no idea when I will get mine =(

  8. i ordered mine on april 11th and it still says 5-6 weeks, i thought mine had shipped when i got that email and nope

  9. fischersd - 9 years ago

Guess what?! They Lied! Several members over at MacRumors have seen the 42mm Space Black available for reservation in limited quantities yesterday morning. One made a reservation and picked up his watch. No system bug here people. Both in the e-mail that they sent out to customers as well as the press release Jeff Williams gave, Apple lied. There are many US customers that ordered on April 10th that still haven’t been shipped their watches (we’re up to 9:50am now on April 10th, as we move around the clock). All backorders around the world haven’t been entirely cleared yet. Very, very poor form Apple!!!
