12.9 inch ‘iPad Pro’ reportedly set for release in mid-November

The always-doubted sometimes-accurate Digitimes is reporting that Apple will release the long-rumored iPad Pro in mid November this year. The ‘iPad Pro’ is expected to feature a large 12.9 inch screen with stereo speakers and targeted at business and education uses. Digitimes says that Apple has asked suppliers to ramp up in late September which should mean a November debut, with manufacturing by Foxconn.

November would not be unusual for an iPad refresh, with Apple typically holding announcement events in October for iPad updates. The company is reportedly ‘cautious’ in placing orders which seems to imply a low initial stock availability, perhaps if Apple is unsure about demand for the new product. The iPad Pro screen will seemingly feature a 2732×2048 resolution. The iOS 9 Simulator adds additional keyboard layouts when run at that resolution, such as the inclusion of a number row.

My favorite device. Will buy the Pro. It’s just good, so why not?

    “…always-doubted sometimes-accurate Digitimes…”

    *snort*

As for: “The company is reportedly ‘cautious’ in placing orders which seems to imply a low initial stock availability”

…isn’t it good practice for companies to have a small amount of new products, nee, batches, being manufactured, avoiding a mass loss if there are manufacturing problems not noticed during QA but will result in mass returns, under warranty?

Sorta excited to see just how big the actual unit will be in comparison to the current iPad Air 2.

I’m all over this. I’ll be Day One.

  6. I don’t recall Digitimes ever being correct/accurate about anything. Ever.

If the 12.9 iPad is real and it isnt a Surface style device I will be let down. Apple needs to move into a TRUE post pc world. This is Spinal Tap look this one goes up to 11 behavior.

    • There’s a 10% chance of rain, but 100% certainty that you will be let down this fall. Sorry.

And so will the rest of consumers. The Surface is getting mad love, just making bigger and bigger iPads that offer nothing new beyond an extra row in the keyboard is so not Apple. No matter what the zombies say in the comments here. Split screen for two apps will only get productivity so far. Using Excel, Word, and Power Point without a Mouse is a pain in the ass for work.

The iPad Pro better have a minimum of 256 GB storage. If it is stuck at 128 GB, mainstream will not buy it. I do not get why people “talk” about size and screen. Those that buy, don’t care, as long as it is an evolution. No one gives a f about the screen or size, not those with $$ anyway… It is all about the storage space.

Talk to Apple JV Members, and you will see. JV members spend thousands every year at Apple. All they want is more storage.

Nothin’special at all, even Surface 3 Pro ist better. Why? Full Windows OS instead of mobile version. This is my opinion. I admit, I am happy user of MacBook Air :)
