I like how only one model has LTE. Hopefully they shrink the sky’s across the rest of the iPad line.

Only apple could charge $99 for a glorified stylus and make it sound cool, sigh. If you’re charging $800 for an iPad, at least make the stylus, sorry, “apple pencil” free/ a bit cheaper.

I’d argue that the stylus is the most exciting thing and much more capable and precise to the other stylus we’ve seen so far. The iPad Pro price though is quite high, they could have started at 64gb for that price. I’ll wait on the sidelines and see what apps get developed but this looks wonderful for drawing/illustration and retouching.

      • This stylus design has been around forever. Just look on Amazon, there are some with identical specs and shapes that have been around since 2013. Now I will give you that most with the same specs are ~$70 so you are only paying the $29 Apple premium but Apple’s is by no means more capable and precise than any of the other high range stylus’s

This is a rehashed Microsoft Surface with more expensive accessories…It’s literally the same exact concepts MS brought to the market years ago…I really don’t care how much better or worse they are implemented…what happened to innovation?

This looks fantastic. I really want to test it out to see if it can replace my Surface Pro.

One thing I would really like to see is Apple using NFC more, I love that I can tap my Note 3 to my mirrorless/DSLR-like camera and they connect and I can transfer photos directly to it.

what apps do you use? photoshop? nope. lightroom? nope. acad? nope. OTOH if you used your surface pro for twitter and FB, yes.

      • thejuanald - 9 years ago

true, I use a lot of programs like auto cad, chem draw, mathematica, mat lab, and a lot of 3D modeling programs like pymol and jmol for proteins. I doubt the iPad wold work well for those.

      • ericisking - 9 years ago

yep, because there’s absolutely nothing in between ACAD and Facebook. Those people working in the medical profession, teachers, lawyers, accountants, construction engineers, analysts, traders…well, it’s amateur hour for those people, they better not get to calling themselves professionals if they’re not using highly specialised 3D graphics software.

I absolutely told myself I wouldn’t get the iPad Pro no matter what, but this thing is actually becoming a potentially capable graphics tablet for my work. That alone is frightfully useful and worth my investment. It’s also considerably cheaper than I thought it would be. Damn you Apple.
