I don’t play many games on my iPhone, but every now and then I stumble upon a title that keeps me coming back again and again. PinOut is one such game. It’s a modern take on pinball that’s stylish, easy to pickup and play, but difficult to master. It’s made by a company called mediocre, but there’s nothing mediocre about this nod to an old-school arcade staple. Everything, from the graphics to the 80’s synth-pop sound effects, make PinOut worth looking into.

Ulysses
Writing long-form articles on the iPhone or iPad is super-easy with Ulysseses. We already went hands-on with Power 2, but I thought it deserved another mention in this week’s Friday 5. Power 2 makes it easy to see your paired iPhone’s current battery life right from an Apple Watch complication. Pocket Casts
Shifty Jelly’s Pocket Casts is my go-to podcast app for iOS. It’s full-featured, with tools like trim silence and volume boost, and does pretty much everything one would expect from a modern podcast app. But it’s the multi-platform support, which allows me to sync my favorite podcasts between my iPhone and Android devices, that keeps me locked in.
