As is usually the case when a new iPhone launches, one of the first things people like to do it is drop it and see just how well it can hold up in real world usage. This time around, YouTuber Keaton Keller of TechSmartt has shared a drop test video showcasing the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Both devices feature new 7000 Series Aluminum, but how much does that actually add to the sturdiness of the device?
In the video, Keller drops both the devices from 3 different heights: pocket level, head level, and from above the head. The iPhone 6s Plus also receives an extra drop from a height of around 10 feet. As you can see in the video, both devices fare pretty well from the pocket and head level drops, with only light scuffs around the body. When dropped from above the head, however, the iPhone 6s met its challenge. The device landed face down and the screen shattered on impact. The iPhone 6s Plus, however, emerged with hardly any added damage. Finally, the iPhone 6s Plus was dropped from a height of 10 feet. Surprisingly, the device emerged with its screen still perfectly intact, despite landing facedown on the ground.
While these tests certainly can vary on a case-by-case basis, it’s encouraging to see both devices fare somewhat well. You can view the full video below.
