Apple has submitted a number of patents for a 3D desktop metaphor interface according to Macrumors. While many vendors have had their own designs (Microsoft, Sun – Project Looking Glass, etc), this is the first design patent for Apple that we can remember.
Snow Leopard, expected in early to mid 2009, isn’t supposed to have major design changes.
