Cisco declares new iPad WebEx app its 'best experience' yet

Apple’s taken yet another slice of the enterprise market with the introduction of the all-new iPad-savvy version of Cisco’s industry-leading Webex platform!

This will let you schedule and start meetings on your PC — and host meetings on your iPhone — when you sign up for a WebEx account.

“Way Cool.  There is no other way I can describe our new WebEx for the iPad app version 2.0 that is available as of today from the Apple App Store,” trills Cisco’s David Knight.

The move confirms the kind of momentum within corporate markets I saw last October, enterprise users ‘get’ the iPad in a big way.

You can expect high-quality multi-stream video conferencing, zoom into video, toggle between video and shared content, even host meetings.

“It is quite simply the best experience we have delivered in my eight years here at Cisco WebEx,” says Knight.

More information confirms the iPad habit:

“Based on our usage data, regular conversations with customers and my own personal experience I can now confidently say that WebEx mobile really does improve business productivity by enabling all participants, wherever they are, to easily join a WebEx meeting and collaborate fully.  This trend is only accelerating thanks to mobile tablets which are ideal form factors for consuming rich media such as meetings.  Our usage of the WebEx app on the iPad is much higher and growing faster than usage on smartphones.”

In related news, the latest DisplaySearch Quarterly Mobile PC Shipment and Forecast Report, says Apple shipped 6.3 million mobile PCs (including tablets) in Q3, representing 12.4 per cent of the market.

DisplaySearch added that the iPad also accounts for an eight percent share of global shipments of all mobile PCs, while 95 percent of iPad shipments were to developed regions, primarily North America.

  1. Congratulations to Cisco for launch of WebEx iPad App. I am a huge fan of WebEx and I was using it recently, until onetime payment & security became top priority for my business meetings; hence, switched over to RHUB web conferencing servers. It works from behind my company’s firewall.
