NFL Now channel added to Apple TV w/ instant in-game highlights, live events and press conferences, more

Earlier this month we reported that the NFL network was testing its NFL Now service as a channel on the Apple TV. The subscription sports service launch followed a few days later with apps for iPhone and iPad in tow, and today the Apple TV channel has arrived as well. While the football channel does not support viewing live games, it does feature highlight clips and other programs as part of the service. Here’s how NFL Now describes the service:

NFL Now gives you personalized access to the largest digital library of NFL content available anywhere including news, analysis and highlights, plus NFL Films archives all on your favorite devices. Some premium content requires a paid subscription.

As mentioned above, viewers can subscribe to the NFL Now service to unlock certain content within the service.

  • NFL Now Video Archive – Watch on-demand archives of NFL Network and NFL Films programming
  • No Ads for Premium Videos – Watch the entire NFL Now Video archive and all NFL Now Plus Highlights without interruption

Becoming a subscriber to NFL Now costs $1.99 per month. Aside from accessing the service in the living room, NFL Now for iPhone and iPad is available on the App Store.

The newly added sports channel joins a list of other sports-related channels on the Apple TV lineup including ACC Sports, ESPN, MLB.TV, MLS, NBA, NHL, Red Bull TV, and Willow.

As part of today’s Apple TV refresh, the ESPN channel received a minor update as well with the newly launched SEC Network joining its list of content providers; the Longhorn Network which follows the University of Texas sports program was also added to this list.

Additionally, NFL Now Plus provides access to Now’s extensive vault of NFL Films shows and documentaries ranging from America’s Game to A Football Life.

    Its a shame the content-delivery overhaul isn’t happening anytime soon.

      Hoping that FX GO will launch before The upcoming fall season.

      Why would international viewers get a live stream of the NFL network but not us in the good ole US of A?

      • Content deals with major companies like CBS, ESPN, NBC. Those contracts have no holding overseas so the NFL is able to try new things.

        I’d easily pay $299 for the entire NFL season if I could watch it on my Apple TV.
