Apple announces new versions of Pages, Keynote and Numbers with Yosemite visual updates and other improvements (iOS too!)

As part of its keynote, Apple has officially announced new versions of its iWork suite — Pages, Keynotes and Numbers. Each of the apps have received some ‘flattening’ UI changes to match the aesthetic of OS X Yosemite.

Each of the productivity apps also have other improvements, relevant to each task. In Numbers, you can now transpose tables in one step for example. Pages adds a new sidebar, with comments and other outline views. Keynote now includes some new text effects as well. The updates will be released alongside the release of OS X Yosemite today.

Apple will also release matching software updates for the iWork counterparts on iOS. Updates for Pages, Keynote and Numbers on both platforms will be released today — for free, as usual.

I just want this stuff to be stable! Those white buttons look freaking odd, and when are we going to get, scrawl zoom?

I would hope they’re going to implement real-time collaboration in the native apps for iOS and OS X as well, just as in icloud.com! This would complete the suits for me.

Still no pivot tables in Numbers…. :(
I can continue to use LibreOffice or (when necessary) Excel….

they said Pages, Numbers, and Keynote would be for free but I still am not getting them for free! I do no think at all these applications are worth $19.99 a pop.

You mentioned “other outline views.” I have been looking at the latest Pages, and cannot find the Outline view implemented. Were you just using this term casually, or does Apple plan to bring back the Outline view? This is essentially the one thing keeping me from adopting the new pages.
