AT&T increasing monthly data allotments on $40 and $70 service plans starting on November 2nd

AT&T announced today that it’s increasing the data allotment on two of its wireless service plans. Starting on Sunday, November 2nd, Ma Bell will begin offering 3GB of data for $40 per month and 6GB of date for $70 a month. Also sweetening the pot, AT&T is tossing in unlimited talk, text and international messaging at no additional charge.

In addition to these new options, the carrier is extending its double data promotion until November 15th for its Mobile Share Value plans ranging from 15GB to 50GB. This means that new and existing customer are still eligible for 30GB of data for $130, which can be used across multiple service lines on a family or business plan. These offers sound pretty sweet, the carrier notes that you’ll have to dish out $25 per month for each line of service, so just keep that in mind before signing on the dotted line.

    What about the unlimited plan?

I wish Canadian carriers would do the same thing. For $80 we only get 500mb

For new customers only? Or will everyone get bumped?

no automatic bump, had to manually change it myself for my account and a friends. Go into Modify plan with the app and can be done from there.

is the 15 to 30 gb permanent or just a temp bump?

    • Andrew Messenger - 9 years ago

permanent once you’ve signed up for it, as long as you do so within the promotional period ending November 15th now.

And so long as you make no future changes to the plan. Meaning, if you decided to change your plan again to lower tier for a period of time, you would not be eligible to “switch back” once the promotional period has ended.

I have to say, the deals are sweetening over time. As much as everyone loves to hate on the carriers (I have no love for them either), I am enjoying the competition-driven perks.

I have 2 iPhones and 2 iPads on my AT&T account. 1 iPhone I own, and the other 3 devices are all AT&T NEXT financed.

I have Unlimited Talk, Text, and 30 GB of Data to share.

I think I now pay $300 per month with tax + fees.

About $130 worth is AT&T NEXT installment payments.

So in total I pay about $170 for Unlimited Talk, Text, 30 GB of Data, and 4 per-device charges.

  6. I pay $30 per month unlimited talk/text/data with Virgin Mobile. No $25 per line fee and no monthly NEXT fee. Why does anyone think AT&T’s prices are competitive?
