Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8.0-8.1 now “stable enough” for use, says Cydia creator

Cydia creator Jay Freeman (better known as Saurik) has tweeted that the Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8.0 to 8.1 is now “stable enough” for use.

We first saw a developer version of the jailbreak last month, with a user version released a week later, complete with Cydia installer. The installer is Windows-only, but it’s an untethered jailbreak, so once it’s done you won’t need to reconnect to a PC following a reboot …

The jailbreak is compatible with any iPhone, iPad or iPod touch capable of running iOS 8 – which includes any iPhone from the 4s on.

While Saurik’s endorsement is reassuring, bear in mind that jailbreaking a device violates your End User License Agreement (EULA) with Apple and technically invalidates your warranty. It can also make your device more vulnerable to crashes and security risks.

The jailbreak is available for download from the Pangu website.

I jailbroke all my devices before 8.1.1. comes out which closes the holes but all my favorite tweak remote messages along with many others, do not support IOS 8 yet.

There are still a bunch of bugs in 8.1, I really want to jailbreak but I want the 8.1.1 update to fix the rotation issue. A hard decision to make … 1st world problems.

  2. Yes – and a free helping of WireLurker as well?!?

Good god, seriously? With everything that’s coming out of China in regards to hack attacks, and now the recent WireLurker incident with pirated software, why on EARTH would ANYONE trust a jailbreak from a Chinese group at all?!?!?!

Recent event have proven to me that Apple should double down on going after these jailbreakers and do whatever they can to lock the system down to prevent it from happening.

There is nothing wrong with there being a Chinese team working on a jailbreak. They’re fighting to open up a closed down system. We have just as little reason to trust Apple as we do them, at least we can review what the jailbreak does. Apple should open up the OS for everyone to modify, but require a lot to enable it to prevent morons.

You’ve just described Android to a tee, and look at where that ended up. Android is your opened up OS, and it’s a steaming pile of crap. I have FAR LESS reason to trust some group of Chinese hackers than I do Apple, you sound incredibly naive right now. It’s Apple’s closed and protected system that the majority of consumers gravitate to because of it’s protected nature.

I also suspect you’re a Phandroid that just stumbled in here from 9to5Google by mistake. I suggest you go back there, your open and free buddies await you.

Or stable enough to let Malware enter iOS devices without owners’ detection. No thanks. Jailbreak is so 2012.
