iTunes Radio is ad-free for all & offering $5 iTunes credits today courtesy of Verizon

iTunes Radio, Apple’s ad-supported Internet radio service, is today available with “limited interruptions” courtesy of Verizon. That means that you won’t be seeing the normal ads you’re used to on the service and instead just a message from Verizon that states, “Enjoy with limited interruptions courtesy of Verizon.” The company is also handing out $5 iTunes store credits through a banner ad on iTunes Radio (pictured above).

It’s not just for Verizon customers, however, as the offer comes today only as part of Verizon’s “Connection Day” promotion offering free digital content and services to all users, not just Verizon customers.

Enjoy a full day of iTunes Radio℠ with limited interruptions on all stations — compliments of Verizon… While you’re listening, keep an eye out for a banner to claim another special iTunes gift!*

iTunes Radio users that pay for Apple’s iTunes Match service for storing music already have access to the service without ads, and those users don’t appear to be able to access the $5 iTunes credit promotion. Verizon notes that “iTunes Match customers are not eligible to receive the offer via iTunes Radio due to opt-out of ads.”

The deal is only available to US customers on iOS devices (although it’s appeared for us on Mac too) and lasts only during Verizon’s Connection Day promotion today.

    • Zac Hall - 9 years ago

Personally didn’t have any luck after turning Match off, let me know if you do!

      I’m a non version user will i also get $5 ?

    • Avenged110 - 9 years ago

I know on OS X (with iTunes 11.3 or later) iTunes Radio will still recognize you have Match on your account even if it’s off (which in every other circumstance is how it should be) but I have no idea how that’ll work on iOS.

was anyone able to get the $5 on itunes on windows? I don’t have an iOS device at hand

  3. Saw the Verizon intro on Mac iTunes following link on Verizon site, but no coupon code or promo yet.

    • On iOS no Verizon ad appears at all. No promo yet.

Have it running for hours now on both my iPhone and Mac and while the banner add comes up frequently there has been no banners with $5 iTunes gift.

  4. iSRS - 9 years ago

I won’t complain since it is free but as both a Verizon and iTunes match customer this is more than a little ironic

  5. Trying this with iTunes Match re-ignited my frustration that we still only get 6 skips per hour.

It’d be great if I had unlimited data. VZ should be more like TMo and not count streaming services against data usage. It’s why I uninstalled all my music services. Those lucky enough to still have unlimited enjoy!

  7. How long did it take to get the banner with the “Redeem now” button? been listening for about 30 mins with no luck

  8. CJ Sheets - 9 years ago

Been listening to a while, haven’t seen the redeem banner yet.

  9. Alexander Burt - 9 years ago

So far I have seem the “Connection Day” banner three times, however no free $5 gift so far. Been listening for around 30 min.

  10. I’ve been listening for over an hour, and I’ve had seven to eight Connection Day ads but not one $5 iTunes credit yet

  11. Roger Cheng - 9 years ago

been listening since 9, 16 commercials but no redeems

  12. Avenged110 - 9 years ago

I wonder if the “while supplies last” disclaimer on that banner is of any significance here…

I figured out how get it another way. I just had iTunes Radio playing and I opened an app with an iAd and it loaded the ad. I did this on two phones and it worked both times, although, I had to quit the app I was trying to load the iAd in a couple of times. I was using n-Track Timer (free) for my iAd.

I found this info on slickdeals….here is the link http://slickdeals.net/f/7425434-vzw-itunes-connection-day-5-itunes-credit-ymmv?page=3

“I installed goat simulator free and the banner appeared on the bottom. I clicked it and then got a message that the money was added to my account. I had to sign out and then back in to my account for the money to show up. Hope this helps.”

Also, I am an iTunes Match subscriber, so we aren’t left out on this promotion.

    • iSRS - 9 years ago

      THANKS! That worked!!

    • It worked for me too!

    • totencough - 9 years ago

Is there a trick for this? I searched for “goat simulator free” and there’s not a single app by that exact name, and the ones that show up aren’t showing me any iAds…

      • The exact app name is “Crazy Goat FREE”. Once downloaded you’ll see the red Verizon banner. Sometimes the banner doesn’t say “redeem”. Close the app and open again until you see “redeem”. Click it and enter iTunes password. Done.

All I’m getting is a Verizon ad that says “Get digital giveaways compliments of Verizon” with a “Get Connected” button. However, when I click on this, I’m taken to Verizon’s site and told to login to redeem gifts, though I’m then told by the site I have to be an Account manager or Owner in order to redeem them, as I’m only an Account Member. (I’m on a family plan with the rest of my family)

Does the ad have to explicitly say “Get a $5 iTunes gift” in order for it to give you the $5 up front? Or does it not give it up front? (and if it does, does this still require you to log in as an account manager/owner? I only ask as I can’t change my account status due to reasons…)

What if you went to the app and then the redeem ad went and you missed it? Does it come back?

  17. sourcelc - 9 years ago

    What good job!

  18. iTunes Radio users interested in enjoying an ad-free listening experience forever might be interested in a new free app for Mac and iOS that permanently blocks advertisements on iTunes Radio. It’s called Irradiate, and you can learn more about it at http://www.zibity.com/irradiate
