The AllCast media streaming app–which allows photos, music and video to be beamed from a mobile device to an Apple TV, Roku, Xbox, FireTV and a range of smart TVs–has now made it to iOS, following the release of the Android app last month (shown in the above video). It’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, and is optimized for iPhone 5 and up.
The app works in a very similar way to the Chromecast stick–or, as the developer puts it, “no setup necessary, it just works like magic” …
To use it, open the app, select the content you want to stream (swiping left or right as required), tap the Cast button and select the target device. Supported smart TV brands are Samsung, Sony and Panasonic.
It’s a freemium app. The free version limits the length of video you can watch and displays ads, so once you’ve confirmed that it works, you’re going to want to hand over $5 for the in-app purchase giving unrestricted, ad-free use. Download it from iTunes.
If for some reason you don’t yet have a Chromecast, then your best bet is to jump on Best Buy’s current deal that includes a $20 Google Play credit and $5 price drop on the stick itself.

How is this different from mirroring to the Apple TV as I do it now?
I suspect the key appeal is how universal it is – you can stream content to your Apple TV at home, to a Roku at one friend’s place, a smart TV at another’s, etc.

Does it do chromecast? I have it on my android phone but after getting a Chromecast my apple TV is disconnected.
This is great since i dont have to do the extra steps of switch video inputs and turn the Apple TV on. And it works with lots of devices. The Youtube ios app supports this Cast feature months ago but with Allcast u can also share your personal content, faster and easier than with Apple TV.
By the way,is a pity Apple TV doesnt support HDMI CEC commands yet.
Unfortunately, I dont have Wi-Fi at home, would a chromevast stick and this app do anything for me?
