Twelve South’s latest HiRise dock accommodates Apple Watch

From 9to5Toys.com:

As the noise begins to die down from Monday’s Apple Watch announcement, we’re seeing a number of accessory makers reveal solutions for charging and storing the timepiece. Twelve South has announced its latest HiRise iteration, designed specifically for docking Apple Watch.

Much like previous models from Twelve South, the HiRise for Apple Watch elevates the device to a level that makes all buttons accessible for easier manipulation. It has a built-in cord management solution to keep the MagSafe charger in place, snaking through the aluminum base while keeping it out of sight.

The HiRise for Apple Watch uses both the magnetic pull of the MagSafe charger and a small cutout to hold the device in place. Additionally, that same magnet will also keep your watch still even when a band is not present. It has silicone accents throughout the dock, which are designed to offer scratch protection. It also has a non-slip rubber base for keeping the HiRise in place while interacting with the device. This dock is slated to ship in two colors: silver and black.

At $49.99, the Twelve South’s HiRise for Apple Watch offers a docking solution that falls in line with the pricing we’d expect for this type of solution. Availability has yet to be released, but interested consumers can sign up for an alert via the HiRise product page for when it comes to market.

Yes, but I’m gonna wait for a dock that holds both the watch AND the phone.
I was hoping for the HiRise Dock to do just that… :-/

      Look nice.

You can check IWDOCK announced at Indiegogo.

The IWDOCK is a high-end product – it’s made from premium quality materials, boasts a sleek and stylish design

  2. Things. Things. Things.
Do we really need one more thing on our nightstands? Keep it simple people.
    Declutter.

And how do you suggest one does that? Seems to me that a watch sitting on its side isn’t taking up much less space than this, and this makes it easier to attend to your alarm.

      • I think the watch sitting on its side still takes less footprint than the stand if you want to think of it this way. But even with that, its not really what I mean. I meant
        Why have 1 more thing?
        Why buy 1 more thing?
        Why have one more box?
The environment is going terribly bad because of all the unnecessary things we’re buying.
Is it crucial to have this stand? Does the Apple Watch not function without it? Will it make our lives that much easier or more efficient?

        >> Why have 1 more thing?
Because it’s neater than a watch sliding around the nightstand, and easier to attend to the alarm. Stops the charging cord sliding off. Creates a nice looking dedicated space for the watch, and allows people to express their gear-lust by putting their shiny new watch on a pedestal. Don’t rain on people’s parade.

        >> Why buy 1 more thing?
Because they don’t give it away for free.

        >> Why have one more box?
I’m OK without elaborate packaging. I don’t buy stuff for the package.

        >> The environment is going terribly bad because of all the unnecessary things we’re buying.
The environment doesn’t suffer so much when products are made of the most infinitely recyclable materials known to man, like aluminium and glass, etc. You’re barking up the wrong tree. Focus your energy on industry which pollutes more than individuals do.

We’re being guilted into believing we’re the bad guys, because we want a few trinkets to make a lifetime of hard work a little more enjoyable, and nobody’s going after industry because politicians enjoy their little perks and campaign contributions. Industry could be a lot cleaner than it is, and THAT is a far bigger problem than a piece of aluminium.

In the 3 or 4 years this product will last, you’ll probably throw away 5x more aluminium in beer cans. Have a sense of priority, instead of just whining about things you supposedly don’t want. Imagine if everyone complained about things they don’t personally want.

“OMG I don’t like your red umbrella. Why do you need an umbrella when you have a perfectly good rain coat? Think of the environment. Anyway, my umbrella is better, it has a green robot on it. Your fruit umbrella is ugly and doesn’t have recessed finger grips” blah blah… Don’t like it, just shut up.

      • I dont like it but Im sorry, I can’t shut up. And if you see something you don’t like, you shouldn’t shut up either.
And its not 1 piece of Aluminum. Many will buy it. Maybe thousands.

It’ll get scratched up over time laying on it’s side.

      • It does go on your WRIST, you know.

        @Israel
Yes it does. Not sure how that’s relevant to additional unnecessary scratches from laying it on a table daily.

I did the 5 dollar preorder for the dodo case stand but I’m pretty sure I just lost my 5 bucks. This looks legit.

I have a HiRise phone dock, and it’s excellent. Bought it for the 5S and and it’s the first dock I’ve ever owned which has survived a format upgrade. Now using it very happily with my 6 Plus.

Very happy to see they’re jumping in nice and early. I’ll be ordering one as soon as they’re available.

Future-resistance on a $50 item means a lot less when you’re dropping $450 on a link bracelet that probably won’t fit the next version, but nevertheless, it’s nice to know this should easily accommodate future watches.

I’d wait until the watch is out before buying a stand. I know of a company that is making one which won’t release images for another few weeks. A friend of mine knows the designer and said he got a sneak peek and said it’s the best he’s seen yet. I’m waiting!

No worries there. TwelveSouth won’t be releasing this until May anyway, according to their site.

There have been so many promises of awesome docks and stands for phones, but TwelveSouth’s products like the bookarc for ipad, etc, make sense to me… so it’s going to have to be something very special to trump that kind of simple elegance.

I hope some exciting docks come out. The phone ones have generally been awful from accessory makers.

Wow, it seems like Twelve South likes to copy.

This is the best dock I have found to charge both your iPhone and Apple Watch at the same time. Will look beautiful on my night stand.
