Apple’s 2015 MacBook Pro and Air models now at US retailers Amazon, Best Buy, MacMall, B&H and others

Refreshed 2015 MacBook Air and Pro models are now available at major US retailers following their announcement at Apple’s Spring Forward event on March 9th.

Currently, Amazon has all of the new MacBook Air models in stock and ready to ship, from $899. The new MacBook Pro models are also listed on Amazon as well, although supply is currently more limited. 2014 versions are discounted.

B&H offers $5 off and no tax at the time of purchase outside of New York on the new MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros as well as a free copy of Parallels. 2014 versions are discounted.

MacMall also offers $5 off the new MacBook Airs and Pros and tax only in a few states. 2014 models discounted.

Meanwhile if you want to get your hands on one today, Best Buy offers free site to store on the new MacBook Pro/Airs which will have stock varied by location. 2014 models discounted.

If you want to save some real money, 2014 models are seeing deep discounts at 9to5toys. At the Apple Refurb store you can pick up some heavy discounts on previous models while extraordinary savings are available at B&H and Best Buy on 2014 models including a student deal that chops the 2014 models down to $750 .

For the MacBook Air, there’s not much you can look forward to with this refresh over the last generation. Processor speeds and integrated graphics have been slightly improved, but everything else remains identical to previous versions.  You’re basically getting a slightly improved machine at the same price as the previous generation.

With the MacBook Pro, Apple implemented similar internal hardware upgrades for the processor and graphics card, but there’s also a brand new trackpad which will also come along with the 2015 12-inch MacBook and added faster flash storage. The Force Touch trackpad brings along a lot of new features within OS X and will eventually be customizable via developer APIs.

If you’d like to find out more about the Force Touch trackpad or Force Click functionality it brings to the new 13-inch MacBook Pro w/ Retina Display or the 12-inch MacBook, check out our MacBook Pro unboxing, overview, and benchmark video embedded below and our “top 15 Force Click features” video.

I thought they upgraded the SSD (speed, not capacity) on the 13″ MBP. Not sure where I read that but I thought they did. Now using a faster Samsung part.

  2. I’m contemplating the 13-inch Retina MacBook with Force touch as my first dive into Macs. I’m a huge Apple fanboy. Been in admiration of their work for 8 years or so, though I’ve only been into mobile products, iPads, iPhones, iPods.

What do people recommend. I’ve I’m going to spend £1000 on a machine I want to make sure that it will A) last and B) be worth my time

It’s price will be supplemented by my iPad Air 2 that was purchased on release date. I want to use it as an iPad replacement for my web surfing and streaming. But also want the power that my current laptop can’t deliver as Im an image manipulator

The new Macbook Air is going to be my this year gadget. I was waiting for Apple to launch something new, so I can get my hands full with the latest device. At the moment, I am confused over the Macbook and Macbook Air.

Is the Iris 6100 really only a “slightly” improvement over the Iris 5100? I expected it to be more comparable with the Iris 5200 Pro.
