Universal Studios releases first trailer for Aaron Sorkin’s Steve Jobs biopic

Universal Studios has just released the first trailer for the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic. The trailer gives us our first on-screen look at star Michael Fassbender as the Apple co-founder, along with Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak, Kate Winslet as Mac engineer Joanna Hoffman, and Jeff Daniels as John Sculley.

Photos from the set previously showed us Fassbender and Rogen in costume, but the images in the trailer appear to be from a different scene. The film, which was written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Danny Boyle, will hit theaters in October.

Earlier this year the movie’s script leaked, revealing key details about the plot. You can view the trailer below:

Hmmmm…that actually looked good. I mean, there’s not much to it (it is a teaser after all), but it got my attention.

The teaser looks really good and although I’m a fan of Fassbender’s work I can’t help but think about what Christian Bale would’ve done with the role.

    Daniel Day Lewis too.

Daniel Day Lewis would have had to move into his office and invent a piece of world changing tech before he could play the role.

So very true, DDL is a great actor but put his personality on top of Steves and you get something very, very scary I should think.

Yeah DDL + Jobs = Daniel Dick Jobs

I can’t wait to see the Bill Gates interlude played by Mr Bean.

This had better been fully edited on Final Cut Pro. :)

the 9:41 statement is clearly an iPhone related thing. So is this movie going to include the iPhone launch also after all? It would suck to end the film’s timeline with the original iMac considering some of the most important years of Steve’s life and Apple were from 2001 to 2011

    • Mike Beasley - 9 years ago

The leaked screenplay doesn’t have anything related to the iPhone. The original Mac, NeXT Cube, and iMac are the only things included.

Even though this trailer makes me thankful that Kennedy was right and society would be better off using genius for the benefit of mankind and not it’s destruction – especially using devices that came from the people being portrayed in the trailer above. I just cringe for the actors because these constant portrayals always turn out dumb and cheesy and they have to fight an uphill battle by the public because most just assume they will suck going into it. The lame jOBS by AK won’t help this movie a bit.

Meh. Not much here to see.

I’m really not digging the choice of actors. So unfortunate Bale bailed (zing).

That being said, I love Fassbender and can see him as the next Bond, but struggling to see him as Jobs. Not sure if Seth Rogan is even worse as Woz. That’s obviously just to sell tickets, not based on proper casting. Of course, I could see the movie and be wrong about them, which I hope I am.

Couldn’t agree more. And with Rogan in this flick, we are guaranteed at least one dick joke.

When Heath Ledger was cast as Joker in The Dark Knight, everyone scoffed and claimed the sky was falling. I see a powerful performance out of these actors, they might not be tent poles for their respected careers but I do see it as making a ding in the universe.

At least they made Heath Ledger look like the joker. Usually when you make a biography about someone’s life, the actor looks like person they are portraying. They didn’t even bother dying Fassbender’s hair.

And don’t even get me started on Seth Rogan.

Oh wow, this actually looks good so far. Pirates of Silicon Valley has always been my favorite. The one with Ashton, what a disaster, but this one, looks promising so far.
