President Obama borrows iPhone for first tweet, avoiding BlackBerry embarrassment

Last week potential Republican Presidential Candidate Jeb Bush made headlines when he was spotted wearing an Apple Watch on the still-exploring-but-definitely-running campaign trail, using the press opportunity as a chance to dish out the zinger that its health apps were better than Obamacare.

The White House has given its own endorsement of Apple today, however, as President Obama launched his own personal Twitter account (not to be confused with the OFA-ran @BarackObama account) with a tweet that originated from an iPhone.

President Obama has frequently gone on record saying he’s not able to use an iPhone for security reasons, instead relying on a government-approved BlackBerry. The White House explains that nothing has changed in that regard yet, unfortunately, telling BuzzFeed that the iPhone used for the tweet belongs to someone among the President’s staff.

Don’t lose the hope, Mr. President, the iPhone 7 will be a great upgrade from that BlackBerry in 2017 when you leave office.

As for the Apple Watch, it too has received a bit of a presidential endorsement:

Please learn what mobile security is all about and how BlackBerry rules the roost. Apple will announce a partnership with BlackBerry in the weeks ahead which will help them get traction in the enterprise business.

Trying . . . . and Phailing! Must be the result of the “No child left behind” education.

  5. He can’t post from his BlackBerry, so this article is irrelevant. National security is more important than being socially acceptable as a world leader. If anybody of objectivity has been paying attention, BlackBerry is no longer in the Stone Age. The BlackBerry of today is a cross-platform security solutions company that sells secure devices. Their marketshare is no longer defined by the average Joe buying a phone. It is defined by their security portfolio and RTOS business. I am the proud owner of an iPhone 6, but my phone utilizes BES 12. Times are changing people and BlackBerry with it.

    • BB is changing? Too little, too late – in my opinion, anyway.

This is what the masses said about your beloved Apple Inc. in the late ’90’s. BlackBerry is just fine. BB QNX alone is rocking it out and Apple loves running iOS Car Play on it. BB10 is very fluid and not dependent on a Home button to get things done. Matter of fact it is the only mobile OS that delivers a complete multitasking experience. I sold by iPhone 6 Plus and replaced it with a Passport and when matched with my iPad Air or my MBP 15-R via BlackBerry Blend I get to enjoy the best of both worlds!

Adversity the likes of what Apple faced and now BlackBerry faces is what makes them great companies as they do not bend to opinions like yours.

      • Really? Soooo you’re totally ok with a world dominated by 2 platforms? So if BlackBerry suddenly pushes out a new technology that surpasses anything that’s on the market today (and it did), you would be totally content with with staying the course with Apple? I think that tell us all we need to know about you. I have devices from all platforms. Some are better at it than others. But to buy ONLY Apple, only Droid, only BB… you’re missing out on a lot by being a sheep to the masses. You’re telling us all, much like this article, you have NO original thought of your own.

Must own Blackberry stock – and hoping to unload it? Blackberry is so last century – they completely missed the boat when it was revealed that they “allowed” countries in the Middle East to “bypass” their great security so those same countries could spy on their people’s communications.

Good luck offloading that stock – I’m guessing it’s selling a little higher then Enron?

BlackBerry is a very nice stock to own. 45% ROI in 2014. What kills me is that Apple fans have very short memories! Apple Inc. was saved by Microsoft in 1998 as failing which Apple Inc. would be part of American Tech history as a mothballed company. No need to hate on BlackBerry or any other company that experience difficulties. Apple Inc. can easily tumble again in the years ahead. Please feel free to iCal it.

So what. Call me when POTUS starts using an iPhone for secure, official US business. If that ever happens (and it actually might someday), it will only be because his iPhone (the hardware) is using BlackBerry Enterprise Software. And, in case you didn’t know this works for iOS and Android too. Learn about it: http://bit.ly/BES12_is_here
