Tweetbot for Mac 2.0.1 brings Twitter’s new ‘quote tweet’ feature, bug fixes

The first update for Tweetbot 2 on OS X has been released, bringing promised support for Twitter’s new “quote tweet” feature along with a bevy of bug fixes, including one for a particularly nasty bug that could crash the app while creating a new mention, and another related to uploading a profile photo.

The app also speeds up the process of changing accounts and introduces support for longer direct messages, which will be available as soon as Twitter flips the switch on that feature in the near future.

You can grab Tweetbot 2.0.1 from the Mac App Store for free if you bought an previous version of the app. For new users it’s available at the reduced price of $12.99.

Finally. The stupid “standard quote” format support all these idiots actually use that should’ve been implemented into 2.0 in the first place. (Still upset over the no medium image previews on the timeline so I have to turn off image preview altogether because the large images take up so much space of tweets.) But one fixed problem per update, I guess. No true complaints here.

I’m still waiting for the new Tweetbot for iPad. I have been a fan of Tweetbot for years, but I don’t see what is taking them so long? When the time does come though, it’s going to be incredibly exciting for any Tweetbot user.
