Google Calendar for iPhone adds Drive integration, new interactive notifications, more

Google Calendar is out with an improved version for the iPhone today with version 1.1. The list of changes is short but the improvements should be welcome.

The update includes integration with Google Drive so users can connect files with events on your calendar. Interactive notifications now include the ability to open directions from alerts or respond to guests via email. Finally, users can now see week numbers next to the calendar and more entries using the week view.

Google Calendar for iPhone is available for free on the App Store. Version 1.1 follows the initial launch in mid-March. Full release notes below:

My product purchase history is strongly, starchily Apple, but this Calendar and Inbox that Google has made available is just amazing. I love the effortless integration and automation. I thoroughly enjoy the fact that Inbox will group my hotel information all together, automatically, and then send it to Google Calendar, also automatically. I’m thankful Apple has opened the door for these apps to be used, even though they are from a rival service.

Agree although, if it wasn’t for all these Google Apps supported on iOS I would switch to Android in a heartbeat. Most of Google’s services are far superior to Apple’s alternatives in my experience.

That’s the best thing of using Apple devices: things right in there when I want it, great hardware, excellent and continuous OS update, and the best of Google and Microsoft.

It has a nice UI, however, one small feature that is useful and isn’t yet again on a calendar app is the date change on the app. You can see what the date is without having to open it. Why is this a difficult thing?
