If you’ve been more impressed by Beats 1 radio than I have, and want to invite your Android-owning friends to check it out, there are a number of unofficial web streams for that.
Developer Benjamin Rumble found an unencrypted HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) URL for the service and embedded it in a webpage on his personal site. You can also access the URL directly. Since then, others have found additional URLs …
You can only access the streams from an IP address in one of the launch countries for Beats 1, but that’s quite a few.
You’ll need an app that supports the HLS protocol, which includes the stock browser in Android 4.1 and up – though Chrome is recommended. You can find a list of these here, but not all will necessarily work with any given stream. Apps successfully tested by Reddit users include Safari, Chrome, iTunes 11, Quicktime X and Media Player Home Classic.
Apple will probably change the URLs before long, but keep an eye on the Reddit thread: there is likely to be a cat-and-mouse game going on for a while, with new URLs discovered as old ones are closed down.
Beats 1 went live yesterday through the new Music app in iOS 8.4 and – some time later – iTunes 12.2.

I’m also not impressed. It’s cool for what it is, but it’s just not for me. I did give it a 2nd go this morning, listening to a UK DJ. Now they switched back to NYC. A cool city, just not funky.
Good to see Internet radio is still in 12.2
I was actually impressed by Beats 1. I thought it was gonna be strictly mainstream pop/hip hop/ crap, but they have some great music playing. I’m more into underground electronic music, but Beats 1 is better than I had thought it was gonna be.
I liked some of it, but not – but then my musical tastes are far from cool …
I haven’t heard any Coltrane on Beats 1 yet.
I can say with confidence that any “radio station” is sure to disappoint a large part of the community. That’s the way it was when I was 12, and that’s the way it is today. People have different tastes and interests.
And that’s OK.
No Apple Music in Israel….. Really disappointed Apple…
Your local copyright laws and how they impact music licensing have a huge impact on where streaming music can be made available in an affordable way.
Don’t like it? Talk to your local government representatives and copyright licensing bodies. Working out licensing for streaming for Israel shouldn’t be substantially more complicated and expensive than working it out for the US and most of Europe. But it is.

well, i got “friends” who have android devices… they are not really cool.
I listened in 3 times or so and all the time they are blasting American gangster rapper thug music about hoes, niggaz, cars and guns.

Using one of these streams is also the only way to use AirPlay with Beats 1. Listening to Beats 1 the official way disables Airplay.
Although I’m not really interested in this “radio on internet” thing (reminds me too much of the silicon valley guy with the Testarosa LOL!), that’s pretty embarrassing that you can’t use airplay with Beats 1.
Erm…I just updated to 8.4 — You can absolutely use AirPlay with Beats 1 — so I don’t know what you’re talking about….
Sorry I wasn’t clear, from iTunes 12.2 on a Mac, and further experimentation shows that it doesn’t work either.
Yeah my bad you’re right — in iTunes for some reason on OS X AirPlay functionality is disabled — weird…it works fine on iOS…maybe an oversight?
You just need to output the audio of your Mac to your Airplay device. Hold down alt/option and click the volume changer in your title bar. Your airplay device(s) should show under “Output Device”. Just select it and you’re good to go. Alternatively, you can go into Audio settings under system preferences and select it there as well
Beats 1 doesn’t appeal to me either. What I’ve heard so far sounds mainly like top-40 R&B/hip-hop, which isn’t my thing. I find it odd that Apple decided to run a single station, dedicated to “just playing great music.” Music is way too subjective for that. Do they think this station is going to appeal to someone who likes EDM, dubstep, house, techno, indie, oldies, jazz, classical, country? Of course not.
In contrast, check out BBC’s Radio 1. They have different DJs, different shows, dedicated to specific types of music. That’s what good radio should be like.
Beats1 is in its infant stages. I’m guessing it’ll change to live DJs 24/7 instead of a 12 hour stream repeated. (Fingers crossed!) They have some amazing talented DJs lined up with an unimaginable knowledge of music.
It would be good to add the current song to your Apple Music library so you can listen again.
I’m excited to see where they take it.
For most (though not all) songs, you can. Tapping the three dots on the righthand side of the mini player brings up a menu with the “Share song, start station, add to playlist” etc options. I’ve noticed a few songs it was not available and when I searched for them manually they did not appear in the library (almost certainly why they couldn’t be added to a playlist).
