Apple’s latest Apple Watch ads showcase fitness, communication, and travel features

Following the initial launch campaign, Apple is debuting four new Apple Watch ads showing the device in action in several different real-world scenarios. The first video called Goals demonstrates a range of features including the Apple Watch’s fitness and workout tracking apps as well as third-party apps available for the device. Another video called Closer echoes a similar theme of recent Apple ads that show people using Apple’s products to stay in communication and share experiences.

Two other new ads called Beijin and Berlin illustrate the Apple Watch as a travel tool with translation and navigation apps plus more.

The new Apple Watch ads follow Apple’s other new advertising campaign centered around the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus  which started just a week ago.

The TV spots are also timed around the Apple Watch’s expansion into other countries. After initially launching in nine countries to start, the Apple Watch became available in seven more countries in June and will land in even more tomorrow and later this month.

why is there no Ad that shows payments using Apple Pay. I use it all the time and its so darn cool.

These are really bad, the epitome of schmaltzy. Apple is really doing itself a disservice by focusing on people lounging around who could easily pull out their Phone and interact far more comfortably with just about any other device. They really should just focus on people on the go. Athletic activity, or a guy on a ladder hammering a nail. Situations where pulling out an iPhone is not the easiest thing to do. Blue collar workers, people with their hands full or on the go. These do not give anyone a reason why they should go out and buy the thing.

    Nothing compelling about these ads.

    • raholder23 - 9 years ago

Agreed. Just shows me that unless I have a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a 2nd screen for my iPhone that I can just skip this product altogether.

      • Ron Cardi (@ROYG_B) - 9 years ago

They want to sell you a $400-$1000 device so you can rely less on the $800-$1000 device that must be carried with you everywhere. Makes absolutely no sense

Wow… really??!! We’re SO GLAD you shared!!! Guess what that’s called. Right:
SO YOU’RE NOT THE TARGET AUDIENCE, MOVE ALONG AND DON’T BORE US WITH YOUR POINTLESS WHINING.

        Old Chinese adage btw.

I have one and it’s worth TWICE its money. Go figger!

      It’s not obligatory.

And of course, this is a new type of product, it’s expected that only the innovators (2.5%) and early adopters (13.5%) to buy one.

Of course, then comes the early majority (34%), and then the late majority (another 34%), and then, finally, comes people like you: the laggards (16%).

People like me a First gen iPhone iPad Apple TV buyer? Yeah you know all about me. But nice that Tim Cook let take a brake from bending over for him to spew your water carrying idiocy.

      • rnc - 9 years ago

Except that the iPhone was not a new product category, was a smartphone, there were other smartphones.

And the Apple TV was/is just a Set Top Box.

Idiot… why do you think anyone should care about your hateful opinion.

The world doesn’t revolve around you.

      • Ron Cardi (@ROYG_B) - 9 years ago

Neither does the world revolve around you and your opinions. I guess I’m going to be a “laggard” as well because as of now these smartwatches are completely useless.

      • chrisl84 - 9 years ago

So the Apple watch is a new product category? Hmm, wonder what category all those other smart watches I’ve seen for sale for the last year and a half fall under. Oh wait the Apple Watch is so much more advanced it doesn’t even count as a smart watch right…..you are so sad.

  3. I like the Germans in Beijing vs. the Chinese in Berlin.. Will probably see more of these exchanges over time!

  4. it’s somewhat cool but the ads were much better under Steve. I’m a Mac was a great campaign.

    • PhilBoogie - 9 years ago

I agree; this would never happened if Tim was still alive¡

    • rnc - 9 years ago

If “I’m a Mac” was aired today, people would riot.

    • lin2logger - 9 years ago

You clearly don’t grasp how UTTERLY MORONIC such “If STEVE were alive…!” blather is. Wow.

      • Frank Grove - 9 years ago

Yes, what did he have to do with building the world’s largest company. I would be careful what you call utterly moronic Pal!

  5. Well this just shows what Apple is trying to become. It wants to be a lifestyle brand. They do not advertise the product directly but a somewhat appealing lifestyle. Just like the “Shot on iPhone 6” it’s more about giving you a sense of a certain lifestyle, which they want to connect to their products. It’s not about specs anymore. It’s about the life you have with those products.

  6. vandy75 - 9 years ago

Somebody fire the ad agency immediately. While I fully understand subtlety and soft sell, these ads are neither compelling nor memorable in any way. A complete waste of production and media dollars.

    • Atlas (@Metascover) - 9 years ago

They are calm and show people… live.
They are a nice pause from all the noise that comes out from most ads.

    • lin2logger - 9 years ago

And YOU of course have the ultimate “agency cred” to show for to even be in the position to make such a hubristic and ever so painfully brainless claim, right? Of course.

Get over yourself and catch a clue.

  7. Todd Biske - 9 years ago

Anyone have a list of the third party apps that were used in these ads?

  8. George Hall - 9 years ago

Bottom line for me, I have owned my Apple Watch for about 30 days now and it has already proven itself indispensable to me. I use it to motivate my fat butt to walk, love to see that line increase during the day. It makes me actually get up from this computer screen and move every hour, I had never realized how long I sit in front of it in the morning. Yesterday it saved me from pulling out my wallet three times as I used Apple Pay. Only complaint about that is that Apple Pay not accepted everywhere yet. Not only didn’t have to wrestle wallet and cards out of pocket but didn’t have to make sure I retained my card and didn’t leave it out somewhere. I love getting notice tap that my daughter or wife has texted me. Used to miss a lot of them not hearing phone in pocket. Also can note message and know if something that must be answered or simply they let me know something and I don’t have to wrestle out phone to reply. I love when walking controlling my podcast playback by watch when I have to pause to chat with another walking neighbor. Everyday I find yet another thing I love about it. seeing time clearly in dark room again another. Seeing temperature in my area at a glance. Checking email quickly to see if anything actually important received.

I am in 60’s bought the watch as a toy because I can. In 30 days went from toy to I would really miss it useful device. 70 % of what I do with phone I now do simply, and quickly with a twist of my wrist. It may not be for everybody but it will be for quite a few.
