Apple pushes OS X El Capitan public beta 4 to testers

Following the release of the sixth developer seed yesterday, Apple has pushed out an update for users who are part of the OS X beta testing program. This fourth beta introduces the same changes that were added to the developer branch yesterday.

Among the changes users will find a new General icon in the System Preferences app and a new blue wallpaper. The update comes with the build number 15A243d, compared to 15A244d for yesterday’s developer version.

Users who are part of the public beta program can download the update now through the Updates tab on the Mac App Store.

  1. Alright. Another PB for OS X. Does it mean we will finally get iOS PB3?

Hope Xcode 6.4 and Xcode 7 works right on them

No they don’t. Actually, now Xcode 6.4 doesn’t work at all and Xcode 7.0 halts during building and crashes when opening IB.

I have reverted to Beta 1 and updated by combo to beta 5. As the result there are no sound output and iCloud preference doesnt work.

    Xcode still doesn’t work.

THANK GOODNESS I saw this on Beta 6, downloaded Public Beta, and installed from a USB over my previous installation…

Can’t start Boot Camp partition in Parallels in the new beta, and I get weird errors in other Parallels VMs, so Parallels users be cautious.

I should point out that the story originally said the build number was 15A244d. This has now been corrected to 15A243d.

Left the update downloading last night on my 2011 MacBook Air. Checked it out today and found the update not listed as installed in the App Store updates but my build number is now at 15A243d as expected if the update had installed. App Store bug I guess!

Thats why these forums are so great. I was worried hen my update did NOT show up in the App Store as installed. I figured , Hey it Beta, but Very reassuring to find I was not the Only one… … … I was expecting Fast and Snappy, so after waiting for Beach Balls and Bouncing Icons I went back to ElCapitan…Flying compared to 10.10.5 beta..

Mine says no update available. That the Beta 3 was the latest.
