Snapchat updated with new ‘Travel Mode’ feature to reduce mobile data usage

Just a month after Snapchat rolled out a major update to its app to remove the classic holding to view requirement, the company is rolling out a smaller update today. Version 9.14 of the app adds a couple of new features that will certainly be welcome by Snapchat fanatics.

First off, Snapchat now includes a new “Travel Mode” that reduces mobile data usage. The feature is accessible in Settings and is turned off by default, presumably to provide the best quality image by default. The update also adds support for a variety of new emojis, as well as the ability to tap the eye icon next to your Snapchat Story to easily see who viewed it.

  • Travel Mode — enable this feature in Settings to reduce mobile data usage.
  • Tap the eye icon next to your Story to see who viewed it!
  • Add more emojis to your Snaps! Just tap the new button.
The update is available on the App Store now.
