Apple debuts new iPad Pro ad ‘A Great Big Universe’ ahead of Wednesday’s launch

Ahead of the device’s availability on Wednesday, Apple today has shared the first video advertisement for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. In a video entitled “A Great Big Universe” shared on its YouTube channel, Apple shows of the benefits of the device’s larger form factor, as well as apps that are optimized for it.

The ad is heavily focused on the galaxy and using the iPad Pro to explore it with apps like Sky Guide Pro and Star Walk. Apple also shows off the split-screen multitasking capability of the device, as well as using the Apple Pencil to annotate maps and images. “Introducing the biggest iPad ever,” is how Apple wraps up the ad before simply displaying “iPad Pro.”

There’s a great big universe in the new iPad Pro. It’s the largest iPad ever and takes your creativity and productivity to an epic scale.

iPad Pro goes on sale online this Wednesday and will be available in retail stores later this week. The iPad Pro starts at $799 for the 32 GB base model and increases to $1079 for the WiFi + Cellular 128 GB variant. View the new ad below:

They really should’ve included the apple pencil.

The thing that stood out to me was the noticeable lag when writing that “t” at the end. I guess I just had higher expectations since they talked about cutting lag so much. Maybe it was just the video since it was probably only shot on 30fps. Or maybe it’s not as perceptible in person. Can’t wait to try one in store.

Would have been nice if Apple had included pertinent information, like what time online orders will be accepted..ya think?

Apple seems to be struggling to know who to market the iPad Pro and Apple Watch to. Is the iPad Pro a laptop replacement, is it for enterprise users, is it for creative people?

Seriously Sky Guide is a horrible app to promote the iPad Pro. Who the hell is going to be using that big of a device to outside to look for planets and such? Sky Guide is a great app for an iPhone, but for something with a giant screen and great processor. Shouldn’t split screen apps, the pencil, and keyboard be being promoted for enterprise users and creative types?

I think they first thought of the kind of imagery they wanted to showcase, running with their space theme, and the sky guide And procreate part were sort of the best ways to quickly show other features that related best to that theme
