LifeProof brings its FRĒ Power waterproof battery case to the iPhone 6s Plus

LifeProof today has announced the expansion of its FRĒ Power iPhone case to the iPhone 6/s Plus. The FRĒ Power case combines the classic waterproof design of LifeProof’s cases with a battery pack, creating one of the most versatile cases on the market.

The FRĒ Power case is IP68 certified, meaning it can be submerged in 2 meters of water for up to an hour. It’s also rated for protection against dirt, snow, dust, and accidental drops. LifeProof says the case can withstand a drop from as high as 6.6 feet. It’s worth noting that since this case is part of the FRĒ lineup, it does offer a built-in screen protector to protect it from scratches and scuffs on the display.

As for the battery aspect of the FRĒ Power, it packs a 3,200mAh pack that is capable of charging the iPhone in its entirety once. LifeProof touts that the FRĒ Power case features Rapid Recharge, which quickly recharges the iPhone 6s Plus and the case itself, as well as Auto Stop Charge for turning the case off when the iPhone reaches a full charge.

While a specific release date is still unclear, LifeProof’s website lists the FRĒ Power as coming soon. It is slated to be available in “Blacktop Black” and “Base Jump Blue” for $149.99.

Nothing makes a big phone feel even bigger than a ruggedized case with a built in battery.

I can’t imagine what using that would feel like. I just got the iPhone 6S Plus and it is big enough with the Apple case let alone this beast.

  2. And still no word on the Nuud for the regular 6s?

Awesome case. Does everything it should.

Stop trying to keep your streamlined little pieces of glass and metal “pure”. Phones are too thin and too fragile to not have a case. As soon as everyone builds a phone like the Samsung Galaxy S-Whatever Sport Edition (which only goes to AT&T, I think) we will have a ruggedized, water resistant phone that doesn’t need a case. Until then, having a phone is like having a drive for a desktop PC… It needs to go into a slot on the main computer to be of any use.

…and there won’t be Nuud version because the Fre is less bulky.
