TwelveSouth debuts BookBook cases for slimmer iPad Air 2 + mini 4, teases iPad Pro edition

TwelveSouth, maker of stylish accessories for Apple products, is out today with new versions of its signature BookBook case fit for the slimmer iPad mini 4 and iPad Air 2. In addition, TwelveSouth’s also showing off the upcoming iPad Pro version of the BookBook case. If you’re unfamiliar, TwelveSouth’s BookBook line wraps your Apple device in a vintage leather book-like case which offers equal parts protection and disguise.

TwelveSouth already has versions of the BookBook case designed for iPhones, MacBooks, and older iPads, and today’s new versions are custom fit for the even thinner iPad mini 4 and iPad Air 2. (If you’ve got the iPad Air 3 in mind, the dimensions according to purported leaked blueprints are virtually the same.)

Both new BookBook sizes not only protect and conceal the iPad exterior, but also double as both typing and video viewing stands to make writing and watching movies and having video calls more comfortable.

There’s no adhesive involved either so you can slip the iPad in or out at will if you want to take a quick photo, and all the iPad ports, buttons, and FaceTime camera are accessible when inside BookBook.

Both new BookBook versions are sold in Vintage Brown colors with the iPad mini 4 version going for $69.99 and the iPad Air 2 edition priced at $79.99. These are available from today.

And as pictured at the top, TwelveSouth is also preparing a brand new BookBook case custom made just for the iPad Pro.

The larger case will accommodate the 12.9-inch tablet while also offering a convenient pocket to optionally stow away an Apple Pencil which otherwise has no obvious place for storage and transportation. Building on the Apple Pencil pocket, the upcoming BookBook for iPad Pro will also offer a viewing angle intended for sketching.

Pricing isn’t available yet, but TwelveSouth is taking sign-ups for iPad Pro customers interested in catching the spring launch. As an iPad Pro owner, I’m curious to see how the BookBook might enhance the Pencil and sketching experience so stay tuned for our review in the future.

I love the BookBook cases. Haven’t gotten one yet but maybe with my next iPad.

Disappointing as it doesn’t see to support a keyboard. Seems like a miss, especially for how long it took for them to bring this to market.
