GigSky expands international iPad data plans to 140+ countries with Apple SIM

Last year GigSky announced that it would offer iPad cellular data plans in around 90 countries by leveraging Apple’s new carrier-agnostic Apple SIM now included in the device. Today the company is expanding availability of those plans to 140+ countries, giving more iPad users the ability to purchase data plans through GigSky without going through a local carrier.

In its press release, GigSky shared a few of the notable additions including Ecuador, Argentina, Jamaica, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Isle of Man, and The Virgin Islands.

GigSky offers users a mix of short-term, no-contract data plans that they can purchase directly on the iPad and use with the Apple SIM now embedded in new iPad models from Apple. The plans are ideal for travellers that would otherwise have to buy a pricey roaming plan from their carrier to get a local SIM and plan once arriving to a destination. In the US and UK, for instance, the company offers plans starting at $15 USD for 100MB of data good for up to 3 days, and as much as 1GB of data for $50 USD good for up to 30 days.

You’ll be able to use the GigSky plans with 9.7-inch iPad Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4 and iPad mini 3 using Apple SIM. Otherwise you’ll have to grab a GigSky SIM to use the company’s packages on other iOS devices.

PALO ALTO, Calif., June 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — International wireless carrier and mobile technology company GigSky, today announced it will offer cellular data plans for iPad travelers with Apple SIM in over 140 countries, including all top travel destinations, plus additions like Ecuador, Argentina, Jamaica, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Isle of Man, and The Virgin Islands – up from more than 90 countries and territories.

The recent release of the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, which features an embedded Apple SIM, has prompted a new wave of excitement at GigSky.  It’s now even easier for customers to access GigSky’s affordable, short-term data plans directly on iPad, avoiding the hassle of buying a local SIM when they travel.
