Get prescription lenses for your Snapchat Spectacles for $29, no mail-in required

When Snapchat Spectacles were first announced, the question of prescription lenses came up early on for anyone that already wears glasses. The Spectacles seemed great, but wearing regular glasses underneath them would just be absurd. Snapchat’s recommendation was to consult an optician to get the lenses replaced. Today, GlassesUSA.com is announcing the availability of Rx single vision lenses for the Spectacles, with no mail-in required.

Spectacles owners can head over to GlassesUSA.com, and pick out a pair of single vision lenses for $29 that they can then fit into their own Spectacles right at home. Once on the page, there are choices between day and night lenses to pick from, including a reflective lens (similar the Spectacles’ original lenses), tinted sunglass lenses, transition, Digital Block lenses (meant to protect your eyes from computer screens), and more. From there, orders are set to arrive 10 – 12 days after.

One of the qualms I had with replacing Spectacles lenses, when I eventually get them, is that I didn’t know how I was going to wear them with my glasses. Being able to replace the lenses at home helps quite a bit. GlassesUSA.com provides buyers with a video on how to replace the lenses, but suffice it to say you quite literally “pop” out the lenses from the Spectacles and swap in your purchased ones.

I haven’t gotten my hands on a pair of the Spectacles just yet, but Scott Buscemi came by and left a guest post review on his purchasing and overall experience with the device. Snapchat’s Spectacles are now available around the US in small pop-up shops, find your nearest one here. Head on over to GlassesUSA.com’s site to get more info on replacing your Spectacles original lenses with prescription ones.
