YouTube TV adds CNN, Turner channels, more NBA & MLB ahead of price increase for new subs

After launching an app on Apple TV earlier this month, YouTube TV is adding some notable channels and launching in new markets today. Meanwhile, the expansion comes as the cord-cutting service is raising its monthly fee for new subscribers next month.

Today’s additions are from the Turner family of channels, including CNN, TNT, Adult Swim, TBS, Cartoon Network, truTV, and Turner Classic Movies. YouTube TV is also getting a content boost on the sports front.

Nationally televised NBA, NBA All-Star weekend, and NBA Playoff games are now also available, while NBA TV is coming soon. The 24/7 MLB Network will soon be arriving, while MLB Postseason games are availabe now. Lastly, the PGA Championship and soccer from the UEFA Champions League can also be watched.

NBA League Pass and MLB.TV is also coming for an additional monthly fee, like Showtime and Fox Soccer Plus.

YouTube TV is also launching in 18 new markets over the coming weeks: Lexington, Dayton, Honolulu, El Paso, Burlington, Plattsburgh, Richmond, Petersburg, Mobile, Syracuse, Champaign, Springfield, Columbia, Charleston, Harlingen, Wichita, Wilkes-Barre, and Scranton.

Soon available in over 100 cities nation-wide, the cord-cutting service is also getting a price increase to $40 for new subscribers on March 13th. On iOS devices, YouTube TV is already $39.99 given Apple’s fees, so that will likely jump to $44.99. However, sign-ups until then will remain at $35 with existing customers locked in at that price.
