Marantz begins rolling out AirPlay 2 support to compatible audio accessories

Back in May, Apple revealed the full list of third-party speakers slated to receive updates with AirPlay 2 support. Now, one of the first manufacturers has started rolling out updates to their line of audio accessories…

Starting this week, Marantz is rolling out AirPlay 2 support to compatible speakers and receivers. Thus far, we’ve received confirmation that the update is available for users of the Marantz AV7704 home theater receiver, but the update is also likely rolling out to other models as well.

Here is the full list of Marantz hardware set to receive updates with AirPlay 2 support:

  • Marantz ND8006
  • Marantz NR1508
  • Marantz NR1608
  • Marantz SR5011
  • Marantz SR5012
  • Marantz SR6011
  • Marantz SR6012
  • Marantz SR7011
  • Marantz SR7012
  • Marantz AV8805
  • Marantz AV7704
  • Marantz AV7703
  • Marantz SR8012
  • Marantz NR1509
  • Marantz NR1609

Marantz had previously stated that updates would begin rolling out in August, so it seems right on schedule as of now. Though it remains unclear which models are receiving the update this week.

Apple released a full list of speakers that will support AirPlay 2 back in March – though the list has proven to be incorrect according to some audio companies, including Marantz.

Sonos was quick to push AirPlay 2 support to its compatible speakers last month. Sonos speakers with support for Apple’s latest wireless technology include the Beam, Playbase, One, and second-gen Play:5. The company has offered some color on why earlier speakers, such as the Play:1, will not receive AirPlay 2 updates.

Have you received an update with AirPlay support on your Marantz audio product? If so, let us know down in the comments!
