Apple has announced its next-generation iPhone XR, one of its three 2018 flagship iPhones. The iPhone XR is lower-cost than the iPhone XS whilst retaining the slim bezel, notched screen with Face ID and gestural navigation. Available in 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB, starting at $749.
The iPhone XR has a bigger LCD display than the iPhone 8 Plus, Apple is calling it ‘Liquid Retina’ — although it is not as waterproof as iPhone Xs. iPhone XR offers an hour and a half more battery than the iPhone 8 Plus.
The screen resolution is 1792×828, including True Tone but lacks 3D Touch. Apple is instead marketing ‘Haptic Touch’, which sounds like a long-press with a haptic feedback included.
The big news here is the color options; iPhone XR is available in white, black, blue, yellow, coral and (PRODUCT)RED.
iPhone XR has the same faster Face ID authentication as the iPhone XS, as well as the same A12 Bionic chip.
The iPhone XR has a new 12-megapixel single camera system. It uses software algorithms to create a Portrait Mode effect even though it does not have two separate lenses. It has the same Depth Control features as iPhone Xs.
iPhone XR will ship on October 26. You can pre-order from October 19.
