Whether you want to know which Apple Watch model you have to check watchOS compatibility or are looking to sell it to upgrade to a new one, follow along for how to easily identify which Apple Watch model you’ve got.
If you’re not familiar with the various Apple Watch iterations, they can be hard to tell apart. Luckily, in contrast to how Apple does things with its other devices, Apple Watch model details are easily found on the back of the device.
How to find out which Apple Watch model you have
- You’ll find the Apple Watch model engraved on the backside
- If you just see “ Watch” you’ve got a 1st generation watch (Series 0)
- If you can’t read the engraved text, follow along below for more ways to identify it
Alternatively, on your Apple Watch or on the iPhone Watch app, you can head into Settings → General → About → Model. You can then do a quick google search like “Apple Watch A1554 specs” to figure out which model you have.
