BestPhotos launches new version featuring improved interface and Siri shortcuts

Anyone that has known me for any length of time knows that I take organizing my photo library very seriously. We can be headed home from a birthday party for one of our kids, and I’ll ask my wife to cull through the photos we took, and add them to an album.

One of the best things about smartphones is you can take 1,000 photos in twenty minutes, but it’s also one of the worst things. I know most people will take a burst of photos, and then never go back through them. They’ll be left with a bunch of copies of a similar shot. In my opinion, it’s a lot easier to enjoy your library, when you take the time to clean up iPhone photos. The problem is that it’s time-consuming using the built-in tools.

One of my favorite tools for cleaning up iPhone photos / iCloud Photo Library is BestPhotos. I started using it earlier this year based on a blog post from David Sparks. BestPhotos helps you quickly choose your best photos and delete the others. BestPhotos just launched a brand new 2.0 version, so now is a great time to get started.

The free version allows you to:

  • Delete and hide many photos at once
  • Quickly jump to recent images, specific years, or albums
  • Add your pictures or videos to new or existing collections
  • Automatically find and manually delete duplicate photos
  • Set up Siri Shortcuts to jump back to the past week, past month, etc.
  • View library stats view telling you more about your past 12 months in photos

If you upgrade to the “Best Features” for $2.99, you’ll get additional features such as

  • Inspect EXIF and other metadata on photos and videos
  • Find extremely short videos that were likely meant to be a photo
  • Search your library for duplicate photos and automatically delete them
  • Vertical video and iOS screen recording search
  • Search library for HDR and portrait photos along with their normal copy (and cull)
  • Siri Shortcuts for smart searches

If you are needing to start the process of cleaning up your iCloud Photos, give BestPhotos a shot.
