Last-generation MacBook Air still available to purchase at $999

Despite introducing an all-new MacBook Air today, Apple will continue to sell the last-generation model at $999. Meanwhile, the new MacBook Air comes in at $1,199.

The last-generation MacBook Air offers legacy connectivity options, including two USB 3 ports, a Thunderbolt 2 port, a headphone jack, and an SD card slot. Meanwhile, the new Retina MacBook Air offers two USB-C ports and a headphone jack.

Of course, the new MacBook Air offers a host of improvements, including a Retina display, Touch ID, and the option of being purchased in either space gray, silver, or gold.

As Apple touted on stage today, the MacBook Air is an incredibly popular option among many buyers, despite its lack of updates over recent years. The new MacBook Air starts at $1199, which is $200 more than what Apple is selling the last-generation model for. Support for legacy ports, however, mean some will naturally gravitate towards the last-generation model.
