Adobe Creative Cloud update adds 3D modelling tool Fuse – and waves goodbye to Flash

fuse

Adobe’s latest update to its Creative Cloud software suite introduces a new 3D modelling tool, Fuse – and renames Flash Professional CC as Adobe Animate CC in recognition of the fact that HTML5 has now become the dominant standard for web-based animated content. Steve would be pleased.

Creating realistic 3D faces and bodies has always been one of the toughest challenges for designers, a task Adobe aims to make very much easier with the addition of a new app in the Creative Cloud armory: Fuse CC. The app, which is currently a Preview version, is intended to allow anyone to easily create animated 3D human models …

Adobe Social gaining Aviary’s photo editing features, Publish Anywhere adds new media enhancements

Adobe Social

Adobe announced almost one year ago that it had acquired the team behind the popular image editing app Aviary, and since then the iPhone app has picked up Adobe ID support for syncing editing supplies with Creative Cloud and joined the Creative SDK. Now Adobe is tying Aviary’s tools like text adding and filter adjustments to Adobe Social — which lets social media managers publish content with simple workflows — thanks to tighter Adobe Creative Cloud integration. Adobe highlights what Aviary integration with Social will mean for users:

Adobe integrates stock image purchases into Creative Cloud as it updates its 15 CC apps

adobe-stock

Alongside the updates to its mobile apps yesterday, Adobe has also updated its entire suite of Creative Cloud desktop apps and launched a new Adobe Stock images service integrated within those apps – something the company says “radically simplifies” the process of buying and using stock images.

“Adobe Stock extends Creative Cloud’s value as a vibrant global marketplace,” said David Wadhwani, senior vice president, Digital Media, Adobe. “Eighty-five percent of customers who purchase stock images use Adobe creative tools. The deep integration with our latest Creative Cloud desktop apps, including Photoshop and InDesign, makes buying and using stock photos incredibly easy. At the same time, our customers – the best photographers and designers on the planet – will have the opportunity to contribute millions of new photos and images to Adobe Stock. This is really going to raise the bar in the world of stock content.”

Single images cost $9.99 for existing Creative Cloud subscribers, but Adobe offers two volume subscriptions offering significantly better deals …

Adobe says almost 3M customers’ information compromised in sophisticated attack

Site default logo image

adobe-creative-cloud

Adobe’s Chief Security Officer Brad Arkin announced today on the company’s blog that “sophisticated attacks” on its network have been discovered and that some customer information was compromised in the process:

Cyber attacks are one of the unfortunate realities of doing business today. Given the profile and widespread use of many of our products, Adobe has attracted increasing attention from cyber attackers. Very recently, Adobe’s security team discovered sophisticated attacks on our network, involving the illegal access of customer information as well as source code for numerous Adobe products. We believe these attacks may be related.

Arkin says Adobe’s ongoing investigation has found that the attackers have accessed Adobe IDs and encrypted passwords for approximately 2.9 million customers, but that it does “not believe the attackers removed decrypted credit or debit card numbers.” They were, however, able to get their hands on names, encrypted credit or debit card numbers, expiration dates, and customer order information. The company is also investigating an attack that accessed source code for several Adobe products illegally.

Adobe is of course working with law enforcement and continuing its investigation, but in the meantime it announced it will be contacting customers, banks, law enforcement, and automatically reseting customer passwords:

Adobe details Creative Cloud: $49.99 membership fee, 20GB storage, CS6, Lightroom 4, Muse, Edge, Photoshop touch apps

Site default logo image

Adobe just revealed (via The Verge) pricing information and more details on its new cloud-based offering called Creative Cloud.

Announced last October along new touch apps for tablets, Creative Cloud is billed as a service that “radically redefines the content creation process” by offering a central web-based repository to store, share and view content across devices. Prices start at $49.99 a month, which buys you a one-year access to 20GB of cloud storage shared across the upcoming Creative Suite 6 apps. This translates into an annual fee of $600 versus the $2,000 (or much less) for the CS license, which could lure those who consider CS too pricey (assuming you only use a license for a year or two).

A membership also gets you all the Creative Suite tools, Adobe Touch Apps and services, device syncing capabilities, in addition to new features, products, and services as soon as they are released. It also includes Lightroom 4 (once it exits beta) and the new Muse and Edge web authoring tools. Volume licensing for businesses will be available this fall for $69.99 a month per seat.
