Apple confirms the iTunes Store is currently down for some users

Apple-system-status

Update (15/10/2015): Apple services again experiencing outages across App Store, iTunes Store and more services as reported by their system status page. Not a good week for Apple’s cloud uptime.

Following a similar outage yesterday, some iTunes users are continuing to experience service disruptions as Apple confirms the downtime. Apple recently updated its system status page tracking issues with its services, stores and iCloud to note the ongoing problem with the iTunes store for some users:

“Users are experiencing a problem with the service listed above. We are investigating and will update the status as more information becomes available.”

The outage has been affecting some users since around 12pm ET, according to Apple, and is yet to be resolved.

Yesterday a number of users reported experiencing issues with Apple’s online services but Apple didn’t detail the problems on its status page.

We’ll update here if Apple confirms the problem as resolved.

[Update 1:45 PM: Apple’s system status page now reports that the widespread outage has been resolved including an issue with iTunes Connect. Apple Music services may require relaunching iTunes or Music to resume playback.]

Last night Apple announced that its Beats 1 web radio station would be the exclusive outlet for MTV to announce the Video Music Award nominees this year. The reveal was scheduled for 7 AM Pacific time this morning, but many users are finding themselves unable to tune in.

Listeners took to Twitter to point out that Apple Music, the Beats 1 station, and several other iTunes-related services are failing to load.

iTunes Connect experiencing multi-day outage for many users, here’s a fix

iTunes-Connect-Redesign-01

A noticeably large number of users are reporting issues logging into iTunes Connect, Apple’s developer portal for managing and distributing apps and other content to the App Store and iTunes. The outage appears to only be affecting a subset of users (we’ve had success logging in, for instance), but a growing number of developers have publicly voiced complaints online. Some users report not being able to access the service for going on four days:

Apple currently has yet to report any issues for iTunes Connect on its System Status page that tracks and reports downtime for its developer services.

Some users have reported success logging in after tweaking VPN settings, while another user posted the following workaround fix that others have used to patch what appears to be a Javascript issue at least temporarily until Apple officially addresses it:

We’ve reached out to Apple about the downtime, and we’ll update here if we hear back.

Earlier this week, iOS users discovered that the App Store was experiencing some technical issues that caused every item for sale to become unavailable. Now, only two days later, the company’s status page indicates that the App Store on Mac and iOS, iBooks Store, and various iTunes services such as the music store and Radio, are all suffering from even more downtime.

According to the status page, the issues first cropped up around 4:30 PM and have persisted for about three hours so far. A notice on the page states that only “some users” are having difficulty accessing the store, but there’s no mention of exactly how many users could be impacted.

Apple says iCloud Mail experiencing outage for some users

iCloud-Mail-outage-01

Following several reports from readers earlier today that Apple’s iCloud Mail service was experiencing an outage, Apple has now updated its system status page to reflect the downtime.

Apple says that “some users are affected” and that “users may be unable to receive iCloud mail”. Apple’s system status page says the outage started a little before 12PM ET this morning and continues for some. iCloud Mail service also went down last month with a relatively small number of users experiencing an outage for as long as 18 hours.

Apple has made some improvements to the iCloud Mail service recently including flipping the switch on encryption for email sent between providers.

We’ll update here when/if Apple provides an update on the outage.

Screen Shot 2013-08-16 at 10.52.15 PM

Apple has informed developers via email that the Developer Website will be offline beginning August 17th at 6PM PST for “brief scheduled maintenance.”

In the past, Apple has not informed developers about upcoming brief maintenance periods, but perhaps Apple is being more transparent in light of the recent hacking attempt and extended downtime for the developer programs.

Apple has also recently launched a website for users to monitor the available of Apple developer services.
