Following 9to5Mac‘s iPhone X feature discoveries from the iOS 11 GM leak we received over the weekend, new tvOS 11 firmware appears to be out in the wild today with details about the new Apple TV. The new Apple TV has widely been expected to include 4K HDR video playback, and the firmware leak both corroborates that and explains how the new video quality will be handled.
In digging through the iPhone X firmware leaked over the weekend, we have found one more small tidbit: reference to a burn-in mitigation feature for the OLED screen.

The leaks from the iOS 11 GM continue this weekend. Following information such as a new Portrait Lighting feature and the iPhone X naming scheme, developers have now uncovered additional details on Face ID, the Camera app, and more.
We think we know the names of the new iPhones, thanks to the iOS firmware. Apple’s three new phones are called iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X (via Steven Troughton Smith).
The 8 and 8 Plus would be the lower-tier LCD phones, whereas the iPhone X is the highly-anticipated nearly-bezelless OLED model. The name reveal joins a flurry of leaks from earlier in the day, detailing new features like Face ID and Animoji, new wallpapers, and confirming the LTE Apple Watch.
In yet another discovery from the firmware leaks, we have found references to two new Apple Watch case colors. These are likely to make an appearance next week at Apple’s September 12 event.
It seems Apple Watch Series 3 will come in a new ‘blush gold’ color for the aluminium Sport watches and a new gray ceramic material for the Apple Watch Edition.
The leaked firmware today continues to bear fruit. The iPhone 8, set to be announced on Tuesday, features a near bezel-less display with a cutout notch for front camera, earpiece and sensors. Now, Guilherme Rambo has found exactly how that will work.

We are continuing to dig through the leaked iOS 11 GM firmware. We’ve found a brand new feature for the iPhone 8 called ‘Animoji’, which uses the 3D face sensors to create custom 3D animated emoji based on the expressions you make into the camera.

Just a few moments after the September iPhone event keynote ended, Apple has started seeding out the golden master release for tvOS 10 today to all current testers and developers. To update to the final build, developers can check through the Software Update section on the Apple TV, or grab the Configuration Profile from Apple’s Developer center if you’d like to install it for the first time.
Following this year’s September iPhone event, Apple has begun seeding out the final builds for watchOS 3. This golden master release can be downloaded as an update from the Watch app on an iPhone, or its appropriate configuration file can be downloaded from Apple’s Developer Center. watchOS 3 GM should be the final release we see before an official release of watchOS 3 is made public. watchOS 3’s public release date is set for next week, September 13th.
Apple has pushed a Golden Master build of OS X Server for Mavericks to developers today in preparation for a release later this month. The Golden Master build is the finalized version of the software. Earlier this month Apple released the GM build of the consumer version of OS 10.9, which is expected to be one of the topics discussed at the company’s October 22nd event.
The OS X Server GM has a build number of 13S440 and is available in the OS X Developer Center.
Tomorrow, after much excitement, Apple will officially launch OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion for $19.99 to the public on the App Store. A new operating system certainly brings a ton of new features. However, there is always the lingering possibility that your favorite app may not be compatible. Just before the launch of Lion last year, we told you about a website called RoaringApps. As Mountain Lion is unleashed from its cage tomorrow, here is a little reminder on exactly why RoaringApps is so useful.
RoaringApps is a free website that allows you to check the compatibility of your apps with Mountain Lion. The website provides a long table of apps (it is a ton) that displays what apps are supported on the new OS X and whether the app is available on the App Store. If you are planning to upgrade to Mountain Lion tomorrow, this is definitely a website worth checking. The website organizes apps by name, and it has a search function to make things easy. We know you are just rooting through iOS Beta 5 now, but we’re think we’ve cracked the OTA update date code.
Apple plans to release their next developer seed of iOS 5, Beta 6, on Thursday, August 18th according to some codes a few developers sent our way. The sources, who provided us with the exact date and time of today’s iOS 5 beta 5 release (which we were skeptical of – because it was a Saturday), warns that because we are still days away from the planned release, the seeding can be delayed due to bugs or other reasons out of our control.
Anyway, you might want to block out your calendar for Thursday evening.
As one might expect, the GM Seed of Lion looks like it is making the rounds in the Torrent sites. This is interesting this time around because Apple is distributing the install via the App Store (for a very reasonable $30) which has tracking codes embedded in the download. That means whoever leaked this is probably going to get in some trouble. We’re assuming most people who choose to download this version will be doing so for the two week head start rather than trying to save $30.
Might be better to just plunk $99 down for a developer account?
