Apple celebrating 5 years of the App Store with timeline of milestones

Site default logo image

In celebration of the iOS App Store’s upcoming 5th anniversary, Apple has created a timeline of notable events in the App Store’s history.

This timeline has been sent to members of the media, including The Financial Times’ Tim Bradshaw, and Apple has created similar promotions in the past.

Earlier this year, Apple sent out a similar celebratory memento for the iTunes Store’s 10th anniversary of existence. Coupled with the note to press, Apple launched a public-facing website to honor the date.

Perhaps Apple will launch a similar site for the App Store’s 5th anniversary on July 10th. Full image and a Vine below:

Ashton Kutcher’s Jobs movie gets an official psychedelic poster

jobs-poster-ashton-kutcher

Movifone has gotten ahold of a new poster for the upcoming “Jobs” movie starring Ashton Kutcher (via: MacRumors). The poster is incredibly colorful and even somewhat psychedelic. The image carries a new “Some see what’s possible, others change what’s possible” tagline and invites us to “turn on” our mind.

Kutcher looks nearly identical to Steve Jobs in the image, even sporting the classic round glasses, turtleneck, and scruffily beard.

Apple holding overnight Tuesday for possible Wednesday OS X Lion launch

Site default logo image

.

We’re hearing from multiple retail sources across the world that Apple’s retail chain will be holding employee overnights Tuesday night. The likely topic? Lion.

In the employee halls of the retail chain sit large tubes that hold new posters for both front of store posters and posters within the store. Additionally, we’re hearing that each store has been sent a Lion-packing Mac Pro for an unknown purpose. As previously reported, LaCie hard drives loaded with the GM seed of Lion image are ready to be connected as installers on the Macs throughout the showroom floor.

New MacBook Airs with Thunderbolt and faster chips are expected to launch alongside Lion, but nothing from the retail channels confirms this timing. Apple has also been known to push back release dates with little notice (last week).  AllThingsD previously said “Thursday-Friday” and we previously were shown Apple internal delivery times for new products arriving last week.
