Apple Podcasts app spotted for new Apple TV on demo units at retail stores

vlcsnap-2015-11-02-15h45m25s227

The Apple TV is an advancement in many ways over the third-generation model (faster processor, App Store, Siri) but there are also a couple of regressions, features that existed before that are missing and/or removed. One such example is Podcasts. The third-gen Apple TV featured a pre-installed Apple Podcasts app, which would sync with your iTunes subscriptions on the desktop and iOS devices. However, it is nowhere to be seen on the new fourth-generation Apple TV yet …

Angela Ahrendts to retail staff: Encourage customers to buy Apple Watch & MacBook online

Site default logo image

Apple may be revamping its storefronts to promote the Apple Watch, but it won’t be encouraging you to buy one there. Retail head Angela Ahrendts has sent a memo to Apple Store staff asking them to suggest customers use the online store to order both the Apple Watch and 12-inch MacBook. The memo reportedly reflects the fact that store inventory of both products will be very limited when the MacBook goes on sale on Friday and the Apple Watch follows two weeks later.

Ahrendts’ two-paragraph memo aims to put a positive spin on the fact that many customers are likely to be disappointed when trying to purchase the new products, suggesting that pointing them to online purchase will “make their day” …

Pudong, Shanghai, store left; latest Chongqing store right

Apple is creating in Chongqing, China, what appears to be a smaller version of its iconic glass cylinder Apple Store in Shanghai. ifo Apple Store shared a series of photos as the wraps came off what is set to be Apple’s third retail store in the Chongqing region, which has a total population of more than 28 million people.

Workers dismantled the huge steel structure that has been covering the entrance for nearly the past year, revealing a 30-foot tall glass structure that will lead to the underground store. The entrance is set in a plaza and surrounded by tall buildings, a setting similar to the [Shanghai] store, but on a smaller scale.

The first Apple Store in Chongqing opened in July of last year, and a second one is under construction. More photos of the latest store can be seen below …

Take a sneak peek inside the latest Apple Store ahead of tomorrow’s opening

main

Dutch site OneMoreThing has provided our first look inside the new Apple Store in The Hague, opening at 10am tomorrow. Unlike many stores, where Apple completely replaced the existing interior of the building, it appears in this case to have retained some of the original features, including light-fittings.

The same approach has been taken with the exterior, where Apple has restored the existing doors rather than replacing them with all-glass ones.

It will be interesting to see whether this is an approach Apple is taking only with selected stores, or whether it forms part of a new look to future stores.

This will be Apple’s third retail store in the Netherlands, alongside Amsterdam and Haarlem. The first 1,000 visitors to the store will receive a free commemorative t-shirt. You can see more photos over at OneMoreThing of the interior and exterior.
