LG gave an update last month before CES about the Apple TV app arriving this year on its recent TVs. While we learned that the 2020 models would include Apple’s TV app when they launch, LG didn’t share a date for when the 2018 and 2019 models will gain support except for “this year.” This evening LG has announced that the Apple TV app is rolling out now to compatible 2019 models in over 80 countries.
Update: Sony told us it was a mistake and they have no further news about the app launch for everyone, but it’s clearly coming in the near future since some people already got it.
Apple announced back in March that it would take the Apple TV app to other platforms, including Smart TVs from LG, Samsung, Sony, and Vizio. Although only Samsung TVs have received the app so far, some users have noticed today that the Apple TV app is now available on some Sony TV models.
An update to the DirecTV Now live TV app is today adding support for the TV app on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. Users will now be able to easily search and access shows, as well as keep track of your viewing history within the TV app.
