Steve Jobs yacht impounded over unpaid 3 million euro bill to designer Philippe Starck

Steve Jobs YachtReuters reported today that the yacht Steve Jobs commissioned before his passing has been impounded in Amsterdam over a payment dispute with its designer, Phillippe Starck. Starck’s lawyers are apparently seeking an unpaid 3 million euros of the 9 million euro he was supposed to receive for his work:

The yacht was impounded on Wednesday evening, the lawyer said, and will remain in Amsterdam port pending payment by lawyers representing Jobs’ estate.

“The project has been going since 2007 and there had been a lot of detailed talk between Jobs and Starck,” Roelant Klaassen, a lawyer representing Ubik, said.

“These guys trusted each other, so there wasn’t a very detailed contract,” he said.

Associated Press said local Dutch newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad reported today that the boat, worth 105 million euro, will not leave the harbor it has been docked in since Dec. 8 until the dispute is resolved.
