In an effort to get ahead with 5G, Verizon is looking to include YouTube TV or Apple TV as part of a launch promotion in its initial four markets.
After launching an app on Apple TV earlier this month, YouTube TV is adding some notable channels and launching in new markets today. Meanwhile, the expansion comes as the cord-cutting service is raising its monthly fee for new subscribers next month.
Less than a day after the announcement, YouTube TV is now available on Apple’s tvOS platform. The cable-cutter streaming TV service starts at $35/month, with no contracts, and allows users to stream TV from their iPhone and now, Apple TV.
Last month saw YouTube TV expand to 10 more markets around the U.S. Today, the $35 per month cord cutting service is launching in an additional 14 locations, with Google’s cable competitor now available for residents of 29 areas around the country.
As announced last month, YouTube TV is now available in 10 more locations around the United States. For $35 per month, users can watch the Big Four networks, sports, and other cable channels on iOS and Apple TV (via AirPlay) clients that feature an unlimited DVR for saving movies and TV shows.
Last month Google launched its new YouTube TV video service with apps available for iPhone and iPad, but curiously not Apple TV. While there’s still no tvOS version of YouTube TV, Google’s new video service updated its iOS app today with support for Apple’s AirPlay feature on iOS.
YouTube has finally announced its long-rumored online television service that doesn’t require a cable subscription. Known simply as YouTube TV, it features local broadcast networks and channels like ESPN for $35 a month.
