Economic Times: Apple likely to release iCloud service in June, announce at WWDC

The Ecconomic Times expands on the recent chatter about the iTunes Cloud (iCloud?)service we’ve been hearing about.  The news site confirms that Apple has locked up deals with 3/4 of the top labels (Universal is widely reported to be the holdout) and is set to reveal the new service at next month’s WWDC.

The Cupertino, California-based gadget-maker is expected to launch a new Web-hosted music service next month, according to multiple reports, after negotiating deals with at least three of the four major record labels.

WWDC isn’t traditionally a venue for iTunes related news but we’ll give Apple a pass…

Read stories to your kids remotely with iPad

You can’t always be there at bedtime to read your kids their evening stories.  However, Nursery Rhymes with StoryTime let’s you read them their favorite stories remotely using an iPhone.  While it doesn’t replace being there, it is a nice stopgap and a great idea.  The artwork on these stories is top notch.

I see this as being fantastic for parents that are split up or even parents that travel often.  Perhaps v2 could have a little FaceTime window.

Has Apple turned off MobileMe users with short passwords?

Word is coming in from Europe that Apple is forcing users with under eight characters and without both a number and a letter to reset their passwords today.  The mandate is an invisible one and some users who don’t meet the criteria are just getting empty login failures.  The fix is easy.  Just head over to the MobileMe and reset your password to one with the appropriate strength.

IMAP Mail and other native applications will not have been affected.

In a possibly related note (and/or some unfortunate timing), Apple Discussion Forums are down for some. If you look at the iPhone forums for example, you’ll see no posts after about 1 AM this morning. (image below)
