The case features an engraving of a dragon, and the packaging likewise features a dragon. In all other respects, both AirPods and case are identical to the standard AirPods Pro, and are priced identically.
Apple links prominently to the special edition on its Chinese and Hong Kong homepages. The order page doesn’t say anything more about them, but there is a footnote on the homepage warning of limited availability.
The Year of the Dragon Special Edition AirPods Pro are available at an Apple Retail Store and Apple Store Online while supplies last. Each customer can only purchase up to 2 units. If you need to replace or repair your Year of the Dragon Special Edition AirPods Pro, subject to availability, we may provide you with standard edition AirPods Pro for replacement or repair.
MacRumors spotted that the same model is also sold in Macao, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
We noted earlier that Apple is also selling Year of the Dragon themed accessories from OtterBox and Mophie, which are available in the US.
Apple China is also offering discounts in a Lunar New Year promotion. For a long time, Apple never offered discounts on its official websites, always doing this through third-party resellers. This changed in 2022, when the company first launched a short, four-day sale. Official discounting does, however, remain rare.
