Over the last year, a number of different streaming services have seen price increases – including Apple TV+ and Netflix. Now, Peacock has announced that it is also increasing its pricing for new and existing customers.

Comcast, the parent company of NBCUniversal, which owns the Peacock streaming service, has reported its Q1 2022 earnings. In today’s earnings report, Peacock’s paid subscriber count is up 4 million subscribers, up 40% since the end of 2021. Of the 28 million current subscribers, 13 million are paying subscribers, up 9 million from last quarter.

The streaming TV battle continues to intensify as prices increase and users are forced to decide which services to keep and cancel. As part of this, NBCUniversal announced today that it is making a notable addition to its Peacock streaming service: adding around-the-clock live local news content to the platform.

About a year after its release last July, NBC is finally adding support for a basic feature on its streaming platform. Today, Peacock is adding support for profiles on Android and iOS among other platforms.

NBCUniversal officially took the wraps off its Peacock streaming service back in January and kicked off a limited release for Comcast and Cox customers in April. Now with the full launch arriving soon on July 15, NBC has detailed that Peacock will be available directly through the Apple TV app.
