March Apple expectations: News and TV event, iOS 12.2 release, AirPods 2 rumors

apple march event

March is upon us, and for Apple, the month is shaping up to be quite busy. Major software updates will likely be released and there’s a services-packed event rumored for the end of the month. There are also a number of new hardware rumors floating around that could materialize at any point. Here’s our preview of Apple’s eventful month ahead:

Comment: With Apple’s March event focused on services, when should we expect hardware updates?

iPad mini iPod touch release

At the start of the week, you could reasonably guess that Apple might hold its semi-regular spring event to unveil a new 10-inch iPad and smaller iPad mini 5, an updated iPod touch, possibly AirPods 2, and new features in iOS 12.2. Reliable reporting has since adjusted expectations, giving us a rumored event date and a focus on new subscription news and video services in place of any hardware. So when should we expect to see all that rumored hardware if there’s no hardware event?

Making The Grade: Why Apple’s education strategy is not based on reality

Making The Grade is a weekly series from Bradley Chambers covering Apple in education. Bradley has been managing Apple devices in an education environment since 2009. Through his experience deploying and managing 100s of Macs and 100s of iPads, Bradley will highlight ways in which Apple’s products work at scale, stories from the trenches of IT management, and ways Apple could improve its products for students.

On Tuesday, Apple laid out its clearest vision of their education strategy to date. That strategy revolves completely around the iPad in classrooms. Apple is keeping the iPad at the center of everything it does in education. Read 9to5Mac‘s recap for a rundown on everything Apple announced yesterday, and read on for my take from a classroom IT management perspective.

Poll: Which wildcard/lab product would you want to see most as ‘One More Thing’ at Apple’s keynote?

Site default logo image

Tim Cook One more thing

Apple’s ‘See you on the 7th’ keynote tomorrow seems mostly set in terms of what we expect to see: iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, Apple Watch 2 with GPS, wireless AirPods and new Beats products. But Apple has a lot of other products in the works that we don’t exactly expect to see tomorrow but would love to see leave the lab if only for a preview. 9to5Mac readers would probably put any new Macs on the top of that list, but there’s a lot of other stuff also rumored to be in the pipeline that would make for an exciting ‘One more thing’ on stage tomorrow…
