Podcast of the Week: Live! From Tomorrow

Live! From Tomorrow is a new musical comedy about innovation in tech and business. The unique aspect of it is that it’s a podcast. It’s produced in the style of a cast album, and it combines studio recordings with live performances and interviews. It contains five episodes over two acts. During the show, Matt Hooper launches a variety show from a local coffee shop.

Commencement Speeches For The Class of 2020

Podcast of the Week: Commencement – Speeches For The Class of 2020

COVID–19 took graduation away from millions of high school and college seniors, and that really saddens me. I have fond memories of the final few weeks of high school finishing up my senior baseball season, senior prom, class night, and more. For these students, they won’t have those memories. They’ll have memories of social distancing and distance learning instead.

Spectacular Failures

Podcast of the Week: Spectacular Failures

One of my favorite podcasts of 2019 was Spectacular Failures. I discovered it right after it was released, and I couldn’t wait for each episode to be released. My favorite episode was the one where they looked into Toys R Us. I had heard that Toys R Us was actually headed towards profitability, but the private equity firms that owned it shut it down and took plenty of money in the progress.

Hi-Phi Nation

Podcast of the Week: Hi-Phi Nation by Slate

Slate has been releasing great podcasts for many years, and I recently discovered one of their existing shows that have added a new format. Hi-Phi Nation, while already in season four, has a new structure. This season they are focusing on a single theme: crime and punishment. Crime and punishment podcasts have become extremely popular, so this makes a lot of sense for Slate to use their unique skills to bring a fresh look to the show. Hi-Phi Nation is hosted by Barry Lam.

Electrek podcast

Podcast of the Week: The Electrek Podcast

This week’s podcast of the week is one of the podcasts on the 9to5 network. Over the past few years, I’ve been learning a lot about electric vehicles, and I have a Tesla Cybertruck on preorder. I told my wife recently that I’ve made my last non-EV car purchase, and we’re going all-electric for all future cars. One of the ways I’ve been learning about the industry is the Electrek Podcast.

Robinhood Snacks

Podcast of the Week: Robinhood Snacks

The last few weeks have certainly been a crazy time with the stock market. I am hoping we don’t see any more of the wild and crazy days where the market is down 1,000 points in an afternoon, but no one knows at this point. One thing to keep in mind is that even if the market is down, you’ve not lost anything until you sell. The average investor buys on emotion, so they will buy high and sell low. If you are able, now is the time to invest in the market because everything is ‘on sale.’ This week, my podcast of the week is Robinhood Snacks.

TWIML AI Podcast

Podcast of the Week: TWIML AI Podcast

During the COVID–19 pandemic, I decided that I wanted to use the time at home to invest in myself. One of the things I was challenged by in a recent episode of Business Casual was when Mark Cuban discussed the role of Artificial Intelligence in the future and recommended some tools to learn more. He mentioned some Coursera courses, so I am currently working my way through some of their AI training, but he also mentioned an AI-focused podcast called the TWIML AI Podcast that I added to my podcast subscription list.

Podcast of the Week: Byers Market with Dylan Byers

Byers Market

We’re debuting a new series here on 9to5Mac that we’re calling Podcast of the Week. I listen to more podcasts than I care to admit, and I am always looking for new shows to help me make sense of the crazy world we live in, learn about new trends in technology, or just get a good laugh. These articles will be short and to the point. I’ll share a brief description of the show, tell you why I like it, and give you subscribe links for a range of podcast apps. This week, my favorite new podcast is Byers Market with Dylan Byers.
