Apple officially launches Tap to Pay in Brazil as international expansion continues

Back in July, we reported that Apple had been running tests with Tap to Pay in Brazil, following a recent expansion to users in the Netherlands. The company confirmed on Tuesday that Tap to Pay is now officially available in Brazil, allowing vendors to use an iPhone to accept contactless payments, whether with Apple Pay, physical cards, or other digital wallets.

Apple has announced that Tap to Pay on iPhone has now rolled out to the UK, enabling small businesses to accept Apple Pay and contactless card payments using nothing more than their iPhone. It follows earlier international expansion to Taiwan and Australia.

The feature, which allows iPhone owners to accept payment without a separate card-reader, was first announced in February of last year, with a gradual rollout in the US through a growing range of payment processors

Apple’s Tap to Pay service is rolling out to Australia, following last month’s expansion into Taiwan. The service allows small business to accept contactless payments without the need for a payment terminal.

Westpac and Tyro Payments are supporting Tap to Pay from today, while four more payment platforms will offer the facility “in the coming months” …

Apple has been working with multiple partners to expand its Tap to Pay feature, which lets businesses use their iPhones to accept contactless payments. In the US, the popular home renovation platform Houzz has announced support for Apple’s Tap to Pay. This will let industry professionals use their iPhones to get paid by their clients with just a tap.
